Next, I skimmed through today's two soaps: OLTL and ATWT. Nothing of interest to me on either one of them. Disappointing.

Then I watched BETTER OFF TED from Tuesday night. There were some great gags, and in general I enjoyed the nutty episode.

With nothing on tonight that I'll watch "live," I'll likely see A CHRISTMAS STORY tonight and then one of the Warner Archive discs. I'll look to see one that's not too long. HOLLYWOOD REVUE is too long. I'll check out ON WITH THE SHOW, and I might have to jump back to the Al Jolson films and do the next one of those: BIG BOY.

TV Tidbits:

CBS has an all-new slate of shows tonight (including a new MENTALIST, yay!)

I am looking forward to that too. And also to the next to last episode of SURVIVOR. The finale is this sunday!

Watched one of the most enjoyable MENTALIST episodes from season one: the one in which Patrick takes $100 to a casino and by the end of the episode, has won about half a million dollars or so. Buys gifts for the team and then gives a bunch to charity and to one particular lady in need.

This almost happened to Lucy & Ethel.

Topic of the Day:

Frank Ferrante in "An Evening With Groucho"...absolutely wonderful!

Sunday in the Park with George, Memphis, Catch Me If You Can in Seattle...the best of the season and all very good

"Romeo & Juliet" by Theater Artists Olympia...but then, I was in it, so I'm biased...and it probably doesn't count. ;)

Of course DR MBARNUM I would enjoy seeing more SEA HUNT episodes whether they feature Jan or not.

Leo Lerman reported that Noel Coward said of Mary Martin:  The only two grown up things about her are her ego and her son.

funny quote.

we would also enjoy seeing more episodes of sea hunt :)

DR JANE - I think he wore a toupee later - although I am not certain he was wearing it during the JEANNE days.  Since he was playing an Air Force officer, he probably had to wear his hair shorter, although probably not regulation.

I thought the long curly hair was most flattering, but then not having any hair myself, it may be just an aberration.

what hair he had was thick and beautiful, i was shocked to see how much it was receding.  he could have had a more flattering haircut.

I think Avatar looks interesting.  I look forward to seeing it.

I actually want to see this, as well...especially in 3-D!

i'm glad our dr elmore is safe.

Well, he didn't pick up his phones.  However, I'm guessing he settled in for a nap after his long day at the McGlinnventory.

And as for "Avatar"....

I think I'll be going to the 10:30 AM IMAX 3-D showing tomorrow morning.  By going before Noon, it will only cost $12 instead of $20.  We shall see.

Jennifer Jones Has Died.

i read that and was surprised i did not recall she was married to simon norton, until i saw the dates of their marriage.   one of my parent's best friend was norton simon's cousin.  i think i would have heard mention of his famous wife had they been married when i was younger.

Well, I thought I was in for the afternoon/evening, but now that I've unpacked my groceries and my Target bags, I need to go back to Kroger.  The 8-pack of AA batteries that I paid for is nowhere to be found.  Bye for now!

Oh wow.  I watched the finale of DEXTER and thankfully was unspoiled.
I won't say anything in case there is anybody who will watch it later.  But the show was really good!

Very sad about Jennifer Jones. I enjoyed most of her performances. GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE is a special favorite.

Behind the Music:

The Story of "Woo-Hoo"

Who knew?  -Ugh, that really is a bad joke in this case.  -But it's a good/sad story.

This is a very long article...I e-mailed the link to my home e-mail to be read tonight.  It does sound very interesting, though.

Some casting news has just been made official:

Katie Finneran, Tony Goldwyn and Brooks Ashmanskas Will Star in Promises, Promises

And...

Stanley Tucci to Direct Anthony LaPaglia, Tony Shalhoub, Jan Maxwell and More in Lend Me a Tenor Broadway Revival

*Another "Monk" alum, Brooke Adams, will also be appearing Tenor.

Brooke Adams = Mrs. Tony Shalhoub.

Shoot...I was really hoping that one day MBarnum = Mrs. Tony Shalhoub.

Ah, sorry for the "long read".  It's the current cover/feature story from Richmond's "Style Weekly".  -There's been lots of new out of Richmond this afternoon.

And speaking of "Style Weekly"...

They were giving away tickets to Jim Brickman's New Year's Eve concert in Richmond at the Carpenter Center via Twitter this afternoon, and I happened to win a pair of tickets.  So... I guess that means I'm going home for the holidays. :)

Back from another predictably grand lunch at Musso and Frank.  Had the combo louis but wasn't my usual hog self with the dressing.  I split evenly between cocktail sauce and dressing, so I feel good.

Only one package today (many due), but it had the latest FSM CDs, so I've got some good listening ahead.  Must go do a couple of errands and later this evening I'll have to do a post office run to ship about six packages.
