These are some of its many endearing qualities, along with the unneccesary '70's zooms and weird direction on the musical numbers. I DO have it on VHS!

DR edisaurus - Welcome back home. -And I'm sorry you didn't have any time to sit in one of the rocking chairs in CLT's main terminal. It's one of the few airports I actually like flying through. It's not too big, not too small. They have a decent food court - good BBQ, and there's free Wi-Fi to go with those rocking chairs.

Now, I must finish up my writing here (won't post until I get home tonight in case I want to make some last minute changes which may come to me after I stewed about the movie for a few more hours). Then, I'll head down to finish getting ready for my Christmas dinner party/gift exchange. It should be a fun evening, and we'll likely watch a seasonal movie after dinner: probably HOLIDAY INN, but I'm pushing for MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL.

DR Cillaliz - I'm actually starting to feel a bit of the holiday stress myself. Most of it centers around trying to get some major cleaning and organizing accomplished before 2010 rolls in. I've actually made some progress over the past few weeks, but, of course, the more I get done, the more I'd like to get done. I'm also not looking forward to traveling down to Richmond tomorrow - I'm sensing tomorrow will be quite frenetic, and I am thinking of just heading down to Virginia next Monday for the week. We shall see... After some phone calls, of course.

Confection Day continues here - one batch of caramel corn is finished and packaged into 12oz. gift bags to be distributed after the Christmas Eve service in Lima. We need to make at least 2 more batches to have enough, so that's next on the list. I've also made shortbread cut-outs that are packed away ready for icing and a batch of gingerbread dough is chilling for cutting and baking tomorrow. This is a new recipe, so we'll see how the guys turn out.

Time to ~~make the doughnuts~~ pop some more popcorn!

I remember watching that year's pageant, that segment at a theatre party! Thankfully, they were running the VCR at the same time, so, after the winner was declared, we were able to rewind the tape and watch that clip again. And again. And again.

Well... Time for me to get ready for my evening. One of the associate conductors at The Met offered me a ticket tonight's performance of Elektra; and even though I'm pretty sure I'll have the same reaction as DR the vixter had after she attended the final dress rehearsal, I'm still looking forward to a bit of Christmas week operatic bloodshed.

Former dear reader Hisaka stopped by for a brief holiday visit, then I went and picked up - nothing. Really annoying. I did check one trackable package that's coming via Fed Ex - that one is supposedly "out on the truck for delivery" but I'm pretty sure they've already been, which means it won't get there today. Calling won't matter, because they'll use their standard "they have till six o'clock" line - it probably won't arrive by then, and then they change THAT tune and tell you sorry it will be the next day. If they'd just acknowledge screwups then trucks could be contacted and packages would be delivered. But no, for their outrageous rates why should they provide top-notch service.
