I guess smaller children are unhappy about the bad weather today. I remember as a kid how unhappy I always was when Christmas day was yucky. Any new wagons or bicycles had to stay indoors until the next day which seemed like an eternity.

I'm guessing JRand and Cillaliz and Dakota Celt are having a VERY white Christmas.

Ginny, too?

And our NYC (and environs) crew?

Wear layers.  Ladies, get those Cuddle Duds out.  Gents, bring out the galoshes.

Meantime, does anyone know where I might find some gopherwood on Christmas Day?

A gopher tree?

Yes, it's a sort-of-white Christmas in Manhattan!

I'm going to finish up a few computer odds and ends and then head downstairs and watch some TV-on-DVD until it's time to start fixing the rest of my CHristmas dinner.

Enjoy the day, everyone!

We're really protected here. We are still expecting another foot or so of snow.   I've been told I can pretty much forget leaving here tomorrow.

I know it is surely causing many problems, but I must say, DR Cillaliz, that the snow photos are absolutely beautiful.

It is incredibly beautiful.  My parents live in a very wooded area so we are surrounded by the snow on the trees.  We were going to by brother's for Christmas dinner - that won't be happening.  So we may have to be a little creative. ..  we are going to have the scalloped oysters we were going to take and probably shrimp the rest is still up in the air right now..

There is a small part of me saying "I told you so"  No one I was dealing with after leaving town early believed this was going to happen.  Well it did.  A judge's secretary told me if we get 18 inches of snow she'd take back everything she said.  Sioux City already has more than a foot and is expecting 10-12 more.  Neener neener neener

I don't have much planned for today (although tomorrow will be another story). I got home very late last night (11:30pm) and am tired.

I think I will do some reading. Btw, DR Jane I got that book you recommended from the library (the first book in the MILLENIUM series). Although i still have one book to finish first.

At my library they only have books 1 and 2 in English. But they have book 3 in french. I will let you know what i think after i read it.

I think we won't have snow today. But we might have bad weather tomorrow (on Boxing Day). At first they were forecasting 25-30cms of snow. But now it might be a mix of snow (10-15cms) and rain.

I don't live that far from the mall (like 5 minutes). But worse case scenario it is only a 20 minute walk :)

I haven't decided if i will go to Old Navy tomorrow (it is at the mall). They are having a promotion if you wait in line to get a bracelet you can get 4 free movie passes if you spend $20. I'm just not sure how early people will line up and how early they will give out the bracelets.

Since the stores only open at 1pm here people usually get to the mall at noon to get parking! (and a few stores open early).

I got woken up at 7:20am by my niece. She called (apparently she was up and opened her presents before 7am).

She is so funny. She thinks santa is a genius. Actually my sister is a genius because she manages to convince my niece to want things that she's already bought.

My sis bought my niece a sled about a month ago. Well last week they were watching a cartoon and the character was on a sled. So my sister tells her, "hmm that looks nice". So my niece decides that she will ask santa for a sled. :)

Last night my aunt had her annual Christmas eve party. There was so much food even though she claims she was cutting down.  I only ate a moderate amount, since my stomach does not really like it when i eat many different things.

There were many many presents distributed. I got a pair of pajamas and a purse (both of which i picked).
