What's the old joke:

Person #1:  Why does everyone hate me as soon as they meet me?

Other person:  Saves time.

I *hope* that I haven't had any rifts or created any.

As for the TOD:
This week I watched the blu and rays of:
A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM:  BATTLE FOR THE SMITHSONIAN, and loved Amy Adams' Amelia Earhart. I bought the dvd/blu-ray combo pack 'cos mum really liked the first movie.  Maybe I will show her the dvd tonight since our dinner plans were changed through a misunderstanding.  (Our next door neighbors thought that they were invited over for a Prime Rib dinner. . .we're having them over, but, they are getting the leftovers which Mum and I planned to have as well as a nice newly roasted sirloin tip).

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE which I enjoyed tremendously.  I very much liked the docu on J. K. Rowling and would like to be a friend of hers as well.

NINE and AVATAR don't look like they're happening today with the change in cooking plans. . . .otherwise I would be a the theater now.

Happy Birthday to JRand's mom.  Mom, did you know your son has an unhealthy obsession with long dead actresses.  I find that extremely odd.  ;)

And to those who love DR JMK, present and past:

Tell Frances Farmer that JMK is obsessed with her!

Evidently once again my brilliant use of irony and self deprecation go completely unappreciated.   ;D ;)

You know, why does a certain newly-banned member have an unnatural obsession and hatred of me, enough to follow me to other boards and attempt to cause problems there?  There must be a reason but I haven't a clew as to what it is.  And that's fine.

I have returned from the Raines event. The bagels and lox were quite tasty this year. I had a nice time talking to many friends and seeing the beautiful Charlotte Raines. Her friend Amy, who's now living in Portland, OR, was there. Amy's father was the late great playwright Steve Tesich who wrote the biographical film BREAKING AWAY (one of my favorite films) about his growing up in Bloomington, IN.

Time to go to West 43rd Street now.

CD: The lovely and intimate Christmas Mornings, crooned by the inimitable Brent Barrett.  Thanks to all involved.

Friday Media Check:

CD - THE DORIS DAY CHRISTMAS ALBUM
        SCROOGE (1970) - movie soundtrack

Believe it or not:  DITTO!  At least that's what I was listening to all last evening.

What can I say? Great minds. . . .and all that!

It stopped raininga couple of hours agao, but it's still murky gray and cold outside, a most unpleasant day, weather-wise.

I, however, had a superb Christmas dinner. The turkey came out flawlessly once again, and was so moist and tasty. Scarfed my plate of food all down in record time, felt guilty about eating like a ravenous dog, and then ate dessert on top of that. I felt stuffed all afternoon.

I watched an episode of THE MENTALIST with a con woman who appeared to be a character the producers might bring back on occasion (like that psychic from an episode earlier in the season). Patrick got the best of her, of course, but I loved how he read her so well and she sat there stewing that she couldn't fool him or he wouldn't fall into her sexual traps.

I thought I might watch last night's rerun of THE MENTALIST while I ate lunch, but it was a first season episode I just watched yesterday (the Lisbon-birthday episode), so I deleted it without rewatching it.

I tried SUPERNATURAL next, but it was the CHristmas episode from two seasons ago, before Castiel entered the picture and not one of the better episodes. So I deleted it, too.

Instead I skimmed through yesterday's episodes of ATWT and OLTL. Fish was on OLTL in a minor capacity. There was nothing of interest in yesterday's ATWT.

Then I began today's work project - MIGHTY MOUSE: The New Adventures. They were produced and supervised by Ralph Bakshi, so they're not serious adventures like the old Terrytoons cartoons of generations ago, but a tongue-in-cheek look at superheroes.

I watched seven episodes thus far (each episode contains two adventures), and Mighty Mouse is barely in some of them! There's an orphan mouse (Scrappy) who gets the focus of several of the cartoons, and other than Mighty singing "Here I come to save the day," there isn't the emphasis on singing the dialog as was present in the old cartoons. They're funny rather than great storytelling adventures.

There are 19 episodes in all, so I have 12 more to watch. I should be able to get 7 more watched easily tonight.

One episode, however, was very weird: the entire show was video clips from assorted old Terrytoons (including the original Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, etc.) with the soundtrack playing the original versions of "Do the Locomotion" and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" I can't imagine what little kids seeing this hodgepodge of sound and visuals tried to make of it.

I skimmed through today's ATWT (OLTL wasn't on), and the boys were there, but it was a stand-in-place story for them, just a rehash of where their rocky relationship stands at the moment.

Im Weissen Rossl gets the German variety show treatment in the 1970's.....scary.

Some of the lip-synching technique leaves a lot to be desired. ;)

I'm going to write for a bit and then head back down to continue with more MIGHTY MOUSE. I may stop a bit earlier than 10 p.m. so I can watch some of IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME in HD since I recorded it this morning.
