I watched WHITE CHRISTMAS on AMC HD this morning. The last 15 or so minutes sure to make me teary eyed.

And some of those dancers were sure pleasing to the eye.

And doesn't Vera Ellen look like she could have been the model for the first blonde ponytail Barbie? Same hair, same face, and same figure.
NO! NO!  She was darling where Barbie isn't.

I think I will do some reading. Btw, DR Jane I got that book you recommended from the library (the first book in the MILLENIUM series). Although i still have one book to finish first.

At my library they only have books 1 and 2 in English. But they have book 3 in french. I will let you know what i think after i read it.

i hope you like it.  i thought book 2 was much, much better than 1 but they must be read in order.  you are lucky you can read book 3 without waiting for the english release.

Oh i didn't say i would read book 3 until it comes out in English.  I just meant it was available. I guess if i really love the books i could get book 3 in french. Although i've never really read books in french just for pleasure.

DR Jane, I have a book recommendation for you (and we don't even sell it at Borders!):  Robert Goddard's PAST CARING.  I've always liked Goddard's writing, but, this book is astonishing.  A mystery, a romance, a mysterious romance and history (as well as historical figures) which simple leap from the page.  You won't be disappointed.

you may be right, thank you.  i shall try and find it.

You know, why does a certain newly-banned member have an unnatural obsession and hatred of me, enough to follow me to other boards and attempt to cause problems there?  There must be a reason but I haven't a clew as to what it is.  And that's fine.

i believe everyone should simply have ignored her instead of giving her what she seemed to want.  too often she seemed to me to be having too much fun.  why else would she attack you on your own board.  if she really doesn't like you why would she want to read what you write here or bother posting...to me it is sad & i think ignoring the posts is the way to go if you really can't keep her off.

I've just been relaxing.  I'll leave in about an hour for the partay, presuming the car starts right up and easily.  If not, I'll call and excuse myself and make - spaghetti.  I have tons of sauce left.

Back from the long jog - had to do it.  A couple of days ago when I started my car, the battery seemed weak.  Yesterday, I went out in the morning and afternoon and started it up, and it was really hard to start.  I'm sure this all stems from when it got drained because I'd left the headlights on for an hour, and the fact is I really haven't driven much since then.  So, I just tried to start it and I really didn't think it was going to start - it finally did, and then I just drove around for twenty minutes to let it charge up.  I got home, turned the engine off, and started it again and it seemed okay.  We'll see how it is in two hours when I leave - if it's problematic, I may not go to the Wechter do - it's really far and I don't want to worry about a dead battery when I'm that far from home.  However, if it starts okay I'll do it, because then I'll be driving steadily for forty-five minutes and that should charge her up good and then two hours later I'll be doing a second forty-five minutes.  And tomorrow I've got the exact same drive because that's where I have to go to get the booklets signed.  If it feels weak in the morning, however, I'll just go buy a new battery.  I REALLY need a new car is what I need and I think I'm going to have to address that this very week.

If this means what I think it means, please, please, please don't let the A&M crazy loon make the announcement.  ;)

I caught a bit of WC on the telly a week or so ago and found Vera Ellen's figure absolutely weird looking.  Those stick legs were not exactly shapely, IMHO.

There's been quite a lot of "trouble" next door (Mae-Ling is throwing temper tantrums), and Wae-Ling has come over several times today to escape the noise.

I guess I'll go see if the car starts right up - if so, then it's on my way to Cissy's - if not, it's on my way back in the house.

Edi, my nieces went to times square one year and said they never want to go again.  nothing bad happened, just all those people crowded together worried them something would happen.  i was surprised by their reaction as they have traveled around most of the world.

I meant to comment earlier, but your house, DR MBarnum, looks like The Land where The Good Tchochkes Go!

Yes, the bitch is back from a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious afternoon chez DR fjl and Skip with a meal that was unbelievably scrumptious: a wonderful roast pork, a vegetable gratin, the most amazing potatoes and a chocolate cake that must be seen to be believed, with layers of peppermint meringue and fresh raspberries. The company was, as always, excellent, the conversation sparkling, and a good time was had by one and all.

As the end of the year approaches, my one real regret is that after looking back many many times on the actual initial exchange that started my one mystifying rift for 2009 (and actually the decade), I honestly can't figure out what I did wrong that actually started the rift - though I do see where it got nasty about two exchanges after that initial exchange.

Meanwhile, I've seen nasty cruel  things said to the person with whom i had the rift, and what I would consider IMHO unfeeling inconsiderate things said to others by that person, with no apparent impact on other interpersonal relationships.

I've had some other rifts in my life, but always understood what precipitated them.  This one is all in writing/typing, all in cyber-writing where it can be analyzed, and the start of it makes no sense to me - and I guess it's my loss, because what i said  clearly had a harsher impact than some IMHO pretty horrible, inconsiderate things that have been said to and by this person - so it must be a flaw in me that i simply do not understand it.

----
Hmmm, I've said that and I'm still not feeling better.

But I have forgiven you, FJL!
