Just had the most interesting telephonic call, which led to another interesting telephonic call.  As you know, we're prepping our first release of 2010, and it's a title I was happy to release, even though it's been out on CD (oop for some years now, though).  I just wasn't sure how many sales we'd have, although I knew ours would sound much better and be a MUCH better presentation.  The original LP release of this score had been a re-recording - the original film tracks have never been available, but we were going to include about four or the film tracks as bonus material, since we would be able to get those four tracks completely clean from the laserdisc release of the film.  So, that made it special.  But this phone call has turned what would be a good release into a potential release of the year for fans of this film (and they are legion) - I am being Fed Exed a CD of the complete original score - only a little of it in stereo, but the rest in excellent mono, all 76 minutes of it.  So, this is suddenly going to become a two CD set, like we did for How To Murder Your Wife.  This is REALLY exciting news and boy does it start Kritzerland off in the best possible way for 2010.

Best of all, I think we can stay on our release timeline of announcing around the 12th.

I've written about four pages so far, and will probably do another two or three later today.  Meanwhile, I have to go deliver a big box o' CDs to a local dealer.

Wow!   Congratulations, bk!   I hope you price it so as to make it really worthwhile for Kritzerland!          :)

Hey, Amy,

After we hung up I realized you had probably Googled Ragtime and you were looking at 11 year old information. The reason it said Ford Center for the Performing Arts (which has an entrance on 42nd Street and on 43rd Street and is a reconstruction of two old 42nd Street legit theatres, the Lyric and the Apollo) is because the original production of Ragtime, in 1998, opened at the then named Ford Center for the Performing Arts. It has since been renamed the Hilton Theatre (not after Paris Hilton   :D)

And that ends your Broadway Theatre History Lesson for today.

TOD:

Can't believe I forgot INHERIT THE WIND for the movies and stage

and LAW & ORDER for TV. Both are marvelous.

T.O.D.

JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBERG - Why didn't Judy Garland win an Oscar for this performance?

The general concensus seems to be that Hollywood felt both she and Montgomery Clift were slumming in the supporting category; they didn't want big stars winning Oscars in that category.

There was much admiration (as I understand) for Rosalind Russell who refused to have herself submitted in the supporting category for PICNIC because she felt she was a star and shouldn't be in that category.

I had time before I started work to rewatch two episodes of THE MENTALIST.

The first involved the plain-looking Casanova who attempts to give Rigsby dating tips.

The second one had to do with the murder of the housewife who was dealing drugs out of the country club. This was the better of the two episodes I rewatched this morning.

I managed to watch 3 1/2 episodes of GLEE. Wonderful episodes. I had forgotten that we got to see Vocal Adrenaline twice in those early episodes (they are a maginficent show choir). I'm on the episode now with the "Acafellas." John Lloyd Young plays the shop teacher who cut off his thumbs.

I'm heading down now to continue watching GLEE. I hope to get through episode eight tonight if at all possible. That would leave five episodes plus the bonus features for tomorrow.

The PROMISES PROMISES artwork does bring to mind PILLOW TALK somehow.

I put away my Christmas kitsch decor.

I have also been swapping out certain pieces of living room furniture for some that are stored in my garage. For unknown reasons I am forever trying to rearrange my living room.

Even as a kid, I liked to constantly rearrange my bedroom. I wonder what all that means. I guess I just like variety.

I am now very tired and shall take a nap...although I know the post man will arrive at any time in the next two hours, which will more then likely me up.
