The bus and the bus driver made great time up 95, and I don't even think he was speeding.  That much.

The bus (company) I took back up to NYC was different than the one I used to take down to Richmond this time.  However, this bus company's "station" is just about a mile from my parents' house.  They used to have a stop in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on West Broad Street - which is a little more than a mile from my parents' house. I called my friend, Mike, who takes the Chinatown busses regularly between Richmond and DC and/or New York City, and he said that this company had moved their "office" out by my parents' house about two weeks ago.  It will be interesting to see if they lose any business being located off the main drag, so to speak.  However, their new location has a proper parking lot, and I'm guessing if people wanted to park their cars there for a few days at a time, that could work.  There's also a bunch of places to grab a bite to eat there around there too, including a 24-hour Wal-Mart.  Anyhoo...

It's nice to be home.

Alas, I'm not going to be able to join DRs edisaurus, FJL and Julie tonight for dinner.  Besides sleeping in this morning - well, rather the reason we all slept in this morning - we all woke up with colds.  Thankfully, I'm feeling much better now, and my parents seemed to be non-sniffly when I left, but we were all just moving a bit too slow this morning to try and make the earlier bus.  So...

I need to take care of a couple of things around the apartment - unpack, go through my mail, drop off the rent, etc. - then I'm gonna plant myself on the couch and check to see what's on the DVR, and spend a nice cozy evening in.

It was very convenient.

*And I still have a voucher for another trip between NYC and RIC on the other bus line.

**And it looks like my parents may even give the Chinatown bus a try.  At $60 round trip, it really is quite the deal.  Plus, this one makes its first stop right at Penn Station instead of Chinatown.  I was back in my apartment just 30 minutes after I got off the bus.

One very cute and slightly embarrassing thing from earlier today...

My parents dropped me off at the bus at 12:30.  They were heading to lunch at Burger King - yes, Burger King - which happens to be in the same strip mall as the bus stop.  My mom had wanted the three of us to have a sit-down lunch, but I really wasn't that hungry, and I also just wanted to make sure I had a seat on the bus.  -Thankfully, the bus was not crowded, and I had a two seats to myself.  Well...

A few minutes before the bus was scheduled to leave, I noticed an incoming phone call from my parents on my phone... And I then I heard my Dad's voice up at the front of the bus... They had bought and brought me lunch - from Burger King: a grilled chicken sandwich, french fries, iced tea and an orange juice.

Awwww... :)

OK... Time to take care of what I have to take care of before I don't take care of them... Or something like that...

We're in!!!.  This has to be one of the smoothest moves I've ever been through.

I got to the office about 7:30 and borrowed the hand carts from the building manager.  I made a couple trips up before Edith arrived a  little before 8:00.  We worked our tail feathers off for about an hour and had almost all the boxes moved up to the new space before the movers arrived.  As we were moving the phone guy arrived to switch the phones to the new suite.

The computer guy was in over the weekend and had the network all fixed up and added a secure wireless network for our office. So I can just show up with my laptop and access all our files.  He can make it even more secure if I want him to.

The place had been vacuumed before I arrived today.  The carpet guys weren't completely done, so they worked while we moved in, but it all worked out.

By noon the movers were done and we were left to unpack.  The office supply delivered the new file cabinets, so all we're waiting on is the couch for the waiting room which will be delivered on Friday.  I'm very pleased about that.

Edith is totally amazing. She had so much unpacked in such a short time, I couldn't believe it.  I got the computers online and stayed a couple hours after Edith left to start putting my office together.  I still have some boxes to empty, but we're in really good shape.

After the movers left this noon, I finally went home for lunch and there was a wave of relief over me. Wow! I had no idea I was as wound up as I must have been because I was exhausted and relaxed.  I did go back and worked and worked and worked some more, but the relief was amazing

I haven't taken any photos yet.  But I will. We still need a few things here and there and have moved things around a bit since the movers left and will probably do that some more. We haven't hung any pictures etc yet either, so there's a little way to go

I'm back from a wonderful Italian dinner with Cathie and Alice. It was great to see both of them and to catch up on everything happening to each of us.

Richard and I both enjoyed The Blind Side.  We came home for a dinner of leftover pork roast and I've spent the past hour getting my secretary pro tem act together for the grantwriters' meetings tomorrow.  Man, I hope Ritika comes back from India soon!
