My guess is NBC will hold O'Brien to his contract and will make him sit and wait.

I've done a little over five pages, after smoothing out yesterday's work.  Interesting things keep coming back to me, so I add them in a sentence here or a sentence there - just nice little details.

Congratulations, Bruce, on MAD WORLD's sell-out. I know you were quite concerned. Perhaps this will add to your comfort level a bit.

I, too, am a lover of the lowly potato. I'm not crazy about French fries, but I like potatoes most other ways.

I did not watch SOUTHLAND when it was on NBC, but I do remember seeing Ben McKenzie in THE OC.  I am curious.  He is a nice looking kid, but did he ever learn to act?  On THE OC is character was pretty painful to watch.

Congratulations to Skip and elmore on their new working relationship.  Elmore, just imagine the sack lunches he could bring to work!

Vibes to JMK for a better home-buying experience this time.

Will you let us know what happens to La Manse?

Watching THE GREAT ZIEGFELD all the way through for the first time in decades.  Good movie.....and so many good people doing good work.

Someone at MGM surely loved Viennese curtains and feathers.

My guess is NBC will hold O'Brien to his contract and will make him sit and wait.

What happens if they tell him they want him to move to midnight and he refuses (which is what he is saying).  Under his current contract can they force him to do the show?

My hunch is that NBC wants Conan to quit, so that Jay can have THE TONIGHT SHOW back.

I would think that they would buy him out of his contract and let him go.  They don't want that kind of animosity from a host of a talk show...there's no telling what he could say. ;)

I've done a little over six pages so far - I'll probably take a break now and do two or three more later tonight.  I should be moving on to a new chapter and new year (1973) tomorrow.

If he bolts - he will become Leno's competition somewhere.

Strange that in my life I have seen the mighty networks become shadows of the powerhouses they once were....thanks to cable, satellite, and computer.....

Back after a busy day with my Mom.  Her move went as smoothly as possible - she had things pretty well-organized and the to-scale floorplan that my niece created was a huge help when the furniture was brought in.  We still have some things to deal with at the old house, but she has a week to complete them so we're going to take a "break" tomorrow.  She'll probably putter and unpack boxes and I'm going to stay home and take down our Christmas tree.

Thanks to all who provided patented HHW vibes - they really helped!

DR TCB I don't remember McKenzie's acting being troublesome on SOUTHLAND and will be glad to see it back on the schedule....but then what do I know?

I did enjoy the Russian wolfhounds in Harriett Hoctor's ballet in THE GREAT ZIEGFELD....especially when they were yawning.

I caught the Keenan Wynn telephone bit today whilst channel surfing.  I did not stay for La Traviata.  ;)

DR TCB, I had never seen Ben McKenzie before, but I think he is stupendous in SOUTHLAND.
