You'd think it was a warm sunny Saturday afternoon.

It is! It is!

After procuring my Turandot ticket, I went ahead and wandered through Central Park for about an hour.  A truly picture-perfect day!

As for the Topic of the Day....

Most memorable was the Fourth of July block party on Franklin Street in Richmond.  They set up the smokers the night before, and by the time I woke up on the Fourth... WOW!!  Truly some of the best chopped pork BBQ I've ever had - with the NC-style vinegar-red pepper sauce.  The only seasoning on the meat was the smoke.  They just placed the pork butts in the smoker, and then 12 hours later... Again, WOW!!!

Otherwise...

I tend to like it all.  However, I'm partial to pulled pork and sliced beef brisket instead of ribs.  I like ribs, but tend not to find them as satisfying as a good BBQ sandwich.  -With slaw, of course.

Oh...

And my "line buddy", Tom, whom I met on the first on the first day of "20 for 20", ended up treating me to breakfast at Landmarc this morning after we got our numbered bracelets.  What a great man and great stories!  He used to be a maitre d' at The Russian Tea Room.  -He served coffee and pastries to Vladimir Horowitz!  And Walter Matthau once bought him a bottle of Dom Perignon - on top of a $100 tip!

I'm sure he and DR elmore could compile a great "history" of the Personalities on New York City in the 60s, 70s & 80s!

I need to get ready to head back down to Lincoln Center to play for a coaching.

Wow, a staged reading of The Times.  Just like the one here two years ago.  One has to wonder why they keep doing it - I recorded a song from this show in 1996, I believe.  And it wasn't new THEN.

ginny, your niece is great to give you a break.  enjoy your visit with her.

She and my mom have always been very close and they've accomplished a lot today.  Laura is staying in our guest room and will be back in time for dinner.  Mom usually quits her work for the day about 5pm and then likes to be left alone.

When does SOUTHLAND start on TNT?  Isn't it this month?

Last Tuesday!

Damn!

Don't worry it hasn't been cancelled again, yet.  It isn't on NBC any more.

Good morning, all! I have a day at Toyland, after which I shall return here, chill out and then take myself down to Joe Allen's for dinner at 6 pm with Messrs John Vogel, William Hicks, and a young lady working with Mr Vogel on the McGlinn estate. They will attend tonight's FINIAN'S RAINBOW performance, and I will go backstage and hang out with the cast and band for a while. The good news is that on Thursday night the production was recorded for the NYPL Theatre video collection of Theatre on Film and Tape.

This is my day. Now I have to make the bed and tidy the apartment. Heigh ho the glamorous life!

HURRAH!!! Willit be availabel to the public?  I would so like to see it again

No, DR vixmom; only for research at the NYPL Theatre Collection.

So, DR MBarnum, I've got a new singer for you: Spain's Rafa Martin.

I have no idea what his music's like, but i suspect from the photos he could be one of your favorite singers even if he were tone deaf.

Maybe there are two Rafa Martins? I think this one may be a physique model (duh!). Well, DR MBarnum still wouldn't care if he sang in quartertones.

I have a very busy day.  I have my Blu-ray Skype staff meeting here in just  a while, then a rather odd wedding (the processional is "At Last" sung by an operatic soprano friend of the bride's--that will give you some idea of the service, LOL), and then some sort of tony dinner party at a golf club in Canby whose dress code online literally caused me LOL several times.  (NO bared midriffs--which completely blows my dress plans for the evening).

Not a pretty picture!

It has not been a beautiful day here; very overcast, but at least it's been pleasantly mild. That's a big change!

I had just as many interruptions as I expected, but I did get a few things watched and, of course, I got lunch cooked and eaten.

While I ate lunch, I watched the second episode of 30 ROCK from Thursday. Not as funny as the first episode, but Cheyenne had a major role this week and was sweet and charming and funny. And Jane Krakowski was finally given some really funny material which she did very well with.

Then I watched SURROGATES. It was a pretty good sci-fi thriller with a interesting premise and only a few places where plot inconsistencies and dramatic license had to be applied to overlook weaknesses.

I listened to a good chunk of the commentary. Nicely done, not too effusive and with good information by the director.

There are four bonus features on the disc which I'll tackle tonight. They don't appear to be very lengthy. The longest appeared to be about 15 minutes.

I loved the orignal when it came out---- I hav'nt seen it in 25 years or whatever so I don't know if I would still connect to it the way I didn then .... I was thinking of showing it to the Vixter - how did you feekl they compared one to the other?

I also recorded this afternoon's men's short program figure skating programs, and I'll watch them when I finish up with my work project.
