Yesterday, I watched a motion picture entitled "My Bill" starring Kay Francis.  She had four children, three of whom were poster children for devil seed.

The youngest was played by Dickie Moore.  He was terrific and was, for all intents and purposes, the real star of the movie.  He and Kay Francis worked well together.  Bonita Granville was in the film, but she wasn't particularly impressive or pleasant.

Earlier, I watched Kay Francis and Errol Flynn in "Another Dawn".  A rather enjoyable film for what it was...about a triangle between Francis and her husband (Ian Hunter)_ and Francis and Flynn (her husband's second in command and best friend).  It was all noble and about personal sacrifice and respect and love...and it was all decked out with a sumptuous Erich Wolfgang Korngold score.  Very beautiful love theme graced this film.

I like Kay Francis.  Wish her films had been better than they were.

Back from errands and whatnot and lunch at Hugo's.  And now I shall write.  It was raining up until about one-thirty, then the sun started peeking through, but only in one tiny area, otherwise the sky is totally gray.

wow, you don't see this tornado warnings in so. california very often:

A storm moving through Central and Southern California has brought high winds, waves and lightning, prompting a tornado warning and pier closures.

Officials shut down piers in Ventura, Seal Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach because of 15-foot waves.

I know, I know, who is this Miss Karen person posting gratuitous nothings ... But I have a good excuse this time for my E and T behavior.  Caught the flu (I think from one of the little kids I costumed for our holiday show).  Right before Christmas and just now feel almost human again. Never been that sick ...

THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS was the first sci-fi movie I ever saw.  It's still one of my favorites.

Hi Jane ~ Thanks (me too!). Today was the first day I felt up to going out and running some errands (talk about cabin fever!) so I think I can be put in the recovered column finally.

Great to be back! My DH (a DDoc) didn't think is was the swine flu, but I had the one that knocks ya down for about 3-4 weeks (the sore throat, congested chest type symptoms that wouldn't go away)

So what all did I miss here at HHW?

(just kidding, I know it's my responsibility to go back and get caught up -- may need to take one of those speed reading courses...)
