Yes, it was DR ELMORE - thanks for recommending said tome.  Leave a message, Loras probably just thinks it's someone else asking for a date.

I especially liked LADY ON A TRAIN which I had never seen, Deanna looked so pretty and was right at home in a quasi-noir glamorous setting....and that voice.....none of the high registers that make me cringe that I hate hearing from Grayson and Powell.

Yes, but all SIX seasons of WILL & GRACE are available, so you have plenty to watch.  ;)

And of course all of the talk yesterday at HHW about the Miss America Contest compels me to remind everyone that Miss Mary Jane (Allison) Hayes was the Miss District of Columbia (Washington D.C.) contestant in the 1949 competition.

She was bounced from the contest when one of the M.A. Watchdogs saw her in the lobby of an Atlantic City hotel...embracing a male!  Of course it was her mother's cousin whom she hadn't seen in many years who had come to see her in the contest.  And Mary Jane continued compete since neither she NOR the judges (including Earl Wilson and Walter Winchell) were told that she had been disqualified.  Winchell in particular was incensed to discover that his votes for Mary Jane were invalid.

Sunday morning greetings!  We did not go to Lima today - Richard had informed them early in the week that they'd have to make do with Morning Prayer.  That set the grapevine in motion and yesterday I received several lovely cards and notes from church ladies.

I'm up, the sky is blue, and I'm about to take a tour through yesterday's writing, even though I've already printed the pages.  I have the feeling I went a little too far in being negative about something and I want to make sure it's very even-handed.

An interesting thing about Paul that he's never talked about to me but I found out was that Graham Parsons was in his first band, The Shilos.

He's also made some nice docs about music (The Kingston Trio, The Carpenters) that show up from time to time on PBS.

Today we're meeting some friends from Randy Newman's group---Susan (occasional lurker here) who went with us on our late night Research Video visit, another frience who used to write for Andy Kauffman and helped originate Comic Relief but doesn't talk about it), another friend in broadcasting who has a car I covet (a Morgan---hope he brings it!) a friend from Paramount (I'm trying to be very Hollywood and impress everyone) and our niece, Michelle, who teaches African American studies at USC.

She's a big fan of director Julie Dash (known as the first African American woman to direct a feature release) so we're going to Julie's after that. (I edited for Julie for many years.)

Between that, I'm meeting with the producer of THE WOLFMAN and the upcoming CAPTAIN MARVEL about a side doc project.

That's how I roll in Hollywood!

But first, I need more sleep!

I went hunting in my closet for some clothes I hadn't worn in a while and came across a fleece pull-over I'd forgotten about.  It has this image on the front:

It expresses my state of mind perfectly and I'm wearing it today.
