I am quite impressed that many of the guys will be preparing their dishes. A few will be buying their stuff. But at least 2 of the guys will be making homemade dishes!

Is this impressed by these particular guys?  If not I'm surprised you would say that with all the chefs on this site. :) Keith & Craig are great cooks, Bryan an amazing one.

I made our pizza for dinner tonight rather than sending Richard out on our snowy roads to pick up carry-out.  It was delicious and now we're watching reruns of Bones.

Just had a really long telephonic conversation with muse Margaret.  She'd reread the last 100 pages, this time without rushing.  She had a few suggestions, all excellent and helpful.  But she was having some real problem with everything that followed my big epiphany, which is the crux of the book.  She felt some of the joy and fun was missing from everything that followed,  and yet she liked most of the stories.  We cut a few things that she felt were unnecessary or slowed things down.  I said we could conceivably end the book at the epiphany - she sort of liked that for ten seconds, but then we never really see the little journey to the real life change.  And then I finally got her to boil it down to something very specific, which is that after the big moment, there's a little leap to the next paragraph and that's what was really bothering her.  Once I knew that, I suggested a line to precede that paragraph, playing on the line that ended the previous paragraph and thereby tying those two things together.  And that did it for her, because suddenly everything was more positive.  And then we found two other places to play on that line and it just lit up the whole last thirty pages of the book.  And that is why I love muse Margaret.

Not only am I not going to a Super Bowl party, I won't be watching the Super Bowl either.

If the half-time show had Curt Colfer leading both teams in a rousing rendition of "Singlegirls", might you tune in?

der Brucer

Nope. I'm sure it would show up on YouTube if I had any interest in it.

Good Evening!

There were just under 200 auditionees and auditions today.

164 of them sang.

All in all, not a bad day.  And the new theatre is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Still watching Lost and am always amazed by the number and length of the commercial breaks.

You know when you record it you can fast forward through those.   ;D

I almost posted the same thing. But then figured he must be fast forwarding through them.

It's funny but Whoopi Goldberg had a similar rant saying there were so many commercials. She said she wanted to watch the show live.
But I don't really get that. I watched it when it was on. I just started 20 minutes after it started. So i basically just watched the show. No commercials. No waiting.

Unless my DVR is recording so many things at the same time that I had to watch something "live," I NEVER watch TV without going through the DVR any more. I can squeeze in more viewing by starting a show late and playing catch-up with it. By the time the show actually ends, I've caught back up with it but without having to sit through any commercials.

And tomorrow...

Well...

We've already had two companies cancel due to the weather...

And since we know that there are a good chunk of auditionees scheduled to fly in from DC, Philly and NYC tomorrow, well...

And there's also a mini-caravan of auditionees who were supposed to drive back to Virginia tomorrow morning, well...

It's gonna be an interesting weekend.

I began my evening by finishing the two other items in the bonus features on WALK THE LINE. One was the theatrical trailer for the movie. The other was a tribute to June and Johnny Cash by friends who knew them and who told the story of their long in coming love affair that finally led to their marriage.

Next, I watched HUMAN TARGET. Seemed like a much simplier caper than the other episodes have been. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

I also just saw that I made a typo in my original posting about the Superbowl. I didn't catch it until this go round. I think I will leave and see if anyone else notices it.

I noticed it, DR Michael.  But the question is whether or not you will notice that I - or any other DR - noticed it.

Next I watched 30 ROCK. A very poor show for them. Jan Hooks played Jane Krakowski's mother in such a broad, silly way that it was irritating. Really none of the running gags this week made me laugh at all.

GHOST WHISPERER was next on the schedule. A kind of unusual episode for the first 2/3 with the ghost not actually appearing to Melinda making communication and identification very difficult.

Poor Margaret Cho is like so many of us with her weight ballooning up and down all the time. Last time I saw Margaret, she was unhealthily skinny. Now, she's gained all of her weight back.

Btw...

Does anybody really know what time it is?

-Obviously, I evidently don't. Or at least didn't. ;)

*I was confusing myself last night by keeping my MacBook's clock on NYC time, so... Yeah, that's the ticket.  However, it was great getting a full eight hours of sleep, and then having enough time this morning to have a nice leisurely - and free - breakfast here at the hotel before heading to the theatre for the auditions.

I ended my evening with MEDIUM.

Excellent episode that really had me over a barrel with what it all meant. The revelation was a fun surprise.

Ariel's subplot was also fun, and I was so glad she got the best of this lout.

Tomorrow I get to start on the work project I've been waiting all week to tackle: THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW - Season Six. I am SO eager to rewatch these episodes.

Second line:

DR elmore - I know this was "settled" a few pages back, but...

I think the word in question is "smile".

I can't wait to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, and all the hype that goes along with it.  It is one of the big television events that I watch faithfully every year.  The others are probaly The Oscars and The Tony Awards.

I still have a great number of shows on the DVR not yet watched including BURN NOTICE, SUPERNATURAL, PSYCH, THE OFFICE, THE UNINVITED, and it's recording tonight's episode of SPARTACUS as I'm typing.

I see that Universal will be releasing a Barbara Stanwyck box in April that contains one of my all-time favorite performances of hers: ALL I DESIRE (directed by DOuglas Sirk). Really looking forward to that release.

Kevin, thanks for the report.  My son in MD now has a contract job.  I just wrote to see if he has been getting to work.  He has to drive some famously horribly dangerous road to get there.  Not what a mother wants to hear!

DR Jane - I really do hope that Craig - is it Craig who's now in MD? - does not have to be on the roads over the next few days.  I'm watching The Weather Channel right now, and... WOW!  It really is coming down pretty hard around the DC area right now.  -And since the DC Metro has already announced that they are suspending service to the above ground stations... And Reagan/Washington-National has already cancelled ALL flights for the rest of tonight and tomorrow... And 80% of the flights at both Dulles and BWI have already been cancelled tomorrow... Again, I really hope he doesn't have to head out in that horrible weather.

Time for me to leave home and watch "Ghost Whisperer" and "Medium"...first (and second).  Then, I'll start watching other shows that are on my DVR.  That will pretty much be my weekend:  clear off the DVR. :D

Until later!

We will also watch the Super Bowl - it's the only pro football game we watch most seasons.  I'm planning to make a crockpot full of chili tomorrow and we'll have leftovers during Sunday's broadcast.
