Well, you've read the notes, you've weathered the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the weathered cows come home.

Topic of the Day:

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Jason and the Argonauts
Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger

...probably because I think that these are the only Ray Harryhausen films that I've seen.

Good morning, all! I am up early since I have an early appointment to see a doctor I cannot say I much like about my physical problems and to learn what he has decided they may, although he doubted they were rheumatoid. So, I'll hear the test results and schedule a session with my primary doctor. Hopefully, this is the last time I will be seeng him. Following that, I have a jaunt to Toyland, and working my way uptown, a stop at NYPL and other places. There is a reading of a new musical by my friend Peter Foley at the Public Theatre today that I am anxious to attend this afternoon, but i think my schedule is a bit crazy today and I'm not sure I can make it.

Thursday morning greetings from Lexington, KY!  We are going to see DR Jose "in action" this morning, have lunch with my college friend Karen, and then head to Louisville.  Richard has an all day computer seminar there tomorrow and I'm going to visit the malls and Vera Bradley vendors.

TOD: "Jason and the Argonauts" and the various "Sinbad" movies from Ray Harryhausen were always among my favorites. My favorite scene was from "Jason" where he battled the skeletons. Haven't seen one of his movies in years. I hope I'm not too old for them.

Today's photo is of a mischievous velvet monkey waiting for someone to leave a bite of food unattended. We also had to lock our tents up when we left because they would enter and take whatever wasn't too heavy to lift.

Crazy day ahead. I'm going to buy a pair of olive trees for the backyard. It's become a viable fruit tree in Texas now that a few varieties will withstand freezing temperatures for part of the year. Will have to get those planted. Then get the house cleaned a little more before a friend arrives for the weekend. I hate housecleaning, so I always put it off until I've got a reason to do it.

DR JRand, Jose's in Lexington and we are, too, until this afternoon.  Richard and I are going to Louisville, but Jose has to stay here and work.  BTW, the weather's nice here in KY, too!

The monkey looks like he's on the set of a play, impatiently waiting for some direction.

TOD:

20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS
IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA
FIRST MEN ON THE MOON

Favorite Creation:  the Venusian creature from 20 MILLION MILES FROM EARTH

I was never a fan of CLASH OF THE TITIANS.  The bombastic dialogue and bored upper tier actors I expect in this kind of movie, but it's so slavish in its imitation of STAR WARS that, for me, it's unbearable to watch. (I do like the scenes with the Medusa and with Maggie Smith's statue head talking on the floor...)

Last night, out of desperation for something to watch, I played TOOTSIE (which I recorded days ago from TCM) and --OMG!--this movie is still a gem!  Every single actor and line is just about perfect.  And last night was the first time I spotted Estelle Getty in her small, small part.

I still didn't spot my friends from college who are suppose to be in the background on a street scene.  I'll need to purchase the dvd one of these days and look for them in freeze frame.

THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS.

It was the first Harryhausen film I ever saw.

DR Jane re: facebook

I agree with DR George that you should not put it as spam. Since she is a real person. But i would tell your friend to change her privacy settings so that this person cannot see her friends list.  I'm assuming this person is not one of your friends "friends". Cause obviously if she is on her list then your friend should de-friend her.
