Well, any of them could sue but they wouldn't get ver far and probably wouldn't be that stupid in the first place.

I hear tell that innocent parties can be driven near banruptcy by stupid law suits.

Car fixit on the cheap vibes for DR GEORGE.

Thanks, JRand!  I walked to work today (first time in quite a while ::)), and it was a nice, sunny and cool but not cold walk.  I may walk to work again...sometime. :D

DR Jane, your advice last night of "try not to bang your nose again" cracked me up.

Good, now follow it! ;)

I still think for the next few days you should not to activities that shake your head around.

Question for Ask BK Day...

bk - Have you ever thought of and/or been asked about translating the Benjamin Kritzer Trilogy into another language? languages?

And, if so, just how would you like the titles to be translated? ;)

Yes.

Pollster: If the election were held today, would you be very likely, somewhat likely, or not likely to vote for John McCain?
Me: I am getting very turned off by all these calls for John McCain lately. If they don't stop I'll vote for anyone running against him. There's my answer.
Pollster: Um. Ok.

Note: the polling may not be by the McCain camp - an opponent could be polling to get data.

Cannot wait to see the new MODERN FAMILY episode tonight. It's become my favorite show, and I just love every character, a rarety for me.

I slightly disagree with your assessment of last week's episode, the baby story was  extra funny. :)

Here's my question for Ask BK Day:

For everyone: If you are registered Independent, do you still get calls from candidates? From both Republicans and Democrats?

Well, here's the latest unbelievable scam.  We got a call at 7:30 this morning asking whether our house was for rent.  The lady had seen a Craig's List ad with our address and data, but the email she got back was from some guy in Africa asking for first & last month's plus a security deposit.  She did a trio to get our info and called.  The posting has since been flagged for removal, but she's sending me the African guy's email and I am reporting this to the police, not that they can do anything about it.

I've read about this type of scam.  Good for the lady tracking you down.

At one point former dear reader Hisaka was going to try and translate one of my short stories into Japanese, just to see how she did, but it never happened.  Titles would be interesting - probably the name still, but maybe with a subtitle to help explain.

In other news...

New York City Opera announced their 2010-2011 Season yesterday, and the "big" news was that Stephen Schwartz's "Séance On a Wet Afternoon" will be closing out their season.  -Although, I'm also interested in the NYC premiere of Bernstein's "A Quiet Place".  In any case...

Here's a clip from one of the NYC readings of "Séance" which happens to open with my friend, Michael Marcotte, sounding - and looking! - great! :)

DR Jane - A friend of mine is over in London right now for some concert appearances, and he asked me if there was anything that I'd like for him to bring back for me.  -Which candies and flavors do you like again? ;)

Here's my question for Ask BK Day:

For everyone: If you are registered Independent, do you still get calls from candidates? From both Republicans and Democrats?

I am one of those folks who gets paid for generating the phone lists that political candidtes use - voters who are are registered Independent (or Decline-to-State) are a high priority on everybody's calling list because it is assumed that they may not have made up their mind and might be swayed. Your best bet for avoiding phone calls is to register with whatever party has dominence in your area (for you, that would be Republican).

der Brucer

Note: Yesterday I generated a call list (over 2000 numbers) for a city council race in California - the list was not party sensitive, it was based on voting propensity.

I did!  And it was still fairly cool...but, at least it wasn't cold and raining like it was last night, when I was about to walk home.  A co-worker was able to drive me home. :)

Wednesday afternoon greetings!  Well, I reported as ordered and participated in the process, but did not get selected for the jury.  By the time the judge asked the question about medical concerns, he'd already said the civil trial (worker's comp issue) would be short - today and possibly tomorrow morning.  So, I did express my concern about prolonged sitting and he said they could seat me so that I could stand as necessary or I could leave.

<Ginny rolls the dice...>

I thanked the court for the accommodation and elected to stay.  Both attorneys asked questions, both of specific people and of the group as a whole and then we were asked to wait in the hall.  When we went back in the courtroom, a jury of 8 (plus an alternate) was seated, but I was among those dismissed (for today - I still have to call the rest of this week and next.

And, just so you know, prospective jurors in our county are not treated like royalty.
