The gag reel was also included on disc two (which I finished) in the set, so I watched that, and it had a fair share of funny mistakes and break-ups. Many in the cast get tickled easily (especially the guys) and have fits of laughter where they can't stop.

Whatever the little shakeup of two days ago did - it was a good thing, I think, because we've just had two days of wonderful, interesting posts from my favorite people on all the Internet.

After I finished my review but before I went downstairs, I went back to YouTube and watched more selected short and long programs from the world championships.

I looked at Michal Brezina's long program (skated to "An American in Paris"). This finished as the third best long program of the night (the judges must have had their eyes closed). Oh, he didn't fall (though he touched his hand down on an early jump), but this program was without much style or flair, very mediocre skating and footwork that wasn't particularly interesting or dynamic. This finished ahead of Adam Rippon's skate? Incredible!

I also looked at Oda's disastrous short program. He was one of the Japanese skaters that was supposed to sweep the podium (the same program finished 4th at the Olympics), but either he botched all his jumps deliberately (that's what it looked like to me. You don't pop three successive jumps in a short program unless you're doing it deliberately) or something was definitely distracting him. All three jumps had incredible height meaning he could easily have landed them had he rotated the appropriate number of times. He didn't even try to. I haven't read any explanations about what this was all about, but it was certainly strange!

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to look at Jeremy Abbott's short and long programs, and I hope some of the women's long programs are also up. I certainly would like to see what some of the European skaters who did so well at worlds and did so poorly at the Olympics had going for them on Saturday.

Unless something comes in the mail tomorrow, I plan on another day off. I do have the Blu-rays of the two Criterions I reviewed this weekend, but I'd like a week or so to go by before I go back to their Blu-ray versions. I know the ALVIN movie sequel comes out on Tuesday, so I guess that's when the Fox Blu-ray will show up (or later).

A ruddy duck with his blue bill and a few other ducks and a grebe swim around the bird sanctuary in Port Aransas.

My wife and I watched AT THE CIRCUS w/The Marx Brothers tonight.

I know that most people think it's one of their lesser pictures, but it's still very funny.

Could be. I know I spotted a grebe out there. Just thought it was in that mix.

That's a beautiful picture, John G. I can never get close enough to ruddies. They always stay out in the middle of the water.

Well I think they should throw out Turkey Lurkey Time and do On the List of Things I Will Not Miss...with the original Hermes Pan choreography.

I downloaded the photo and enlarged it in paint, and it looked like they all had the same markings.

Good to hear. I picked up the DVD the other day. It was a two-fer with "Room Service" on it. Haven't seen "Circus" yet.

They are interpolating "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" instead of "Turkey Lurkey." It's a song for Fran to sing as she decides to leave town.

Words of advice:  don't go out shopping for shoes on the weekend before Easter.

I would amend that to: Don't go shopping for shoes on the weekend. Period.

I can't understand why Kristin Chenoweth thinks she needs another song?  She has some of the best songs in the show!

Frankly, I don't think it's Kristin Chenoweth who thinks she needs another song.  I believe it's the current production staff - and producers - that believe she needs another song (or two) in the show.

OK, this post is for those of you who have been accused of/reacting to/need to learn the proper way of VENTING department:

A guy sends me about 10 emails in the space of 30 seconds BEGGING to buy my Ensoniq (once a very high end keyboard, the company went out of business years ago, so these are highly prized).   I call him and chat.  He agrees to come at 3 to pick it up.  Of course at 3 he calls to say he doesn't have a car available.  OK, here's the venting part:

A)($*$D;SFLKJEIL5=1-8]B A ;DASFLK J24A; DS;KL/A DSK F_)(*#_)(df:lkj:lksfjlDF;@_#@$_@%&%&

That, ladies and germs, is how you vent.

Bravo!!

This intercepted email from Promises Promises:

Mr. Kirkeby's name is already Al, so elongating it to Alfie should turn out to be an easy fix after all.

TCB - You can't always believe what you hear in parodies on Youtube.  They are suggested by real life, like COCO and GYPSY.

DR JMK - Former "Gourmet" editor, Ruth Reichl, will be heading to Portland today as per her Twitter account:

@ruthreichl Leaving Tacoma, heading to Portland. Planning to wander the streets, eating all day. Can't wait. Suggestions?

It also looks like her alter-ego/Anthony Bourdain mash-up will be too:

@ruthbourdain Leaving Tacoma & never coming back. Heading to Portland. No hotel. Planning to wander the streets like a gypsy, eating all day. Can't wait.

;)

Why in the Hell were they in Tacoma?

Ruth Reichl was in Tacoma for a book signing.  Her memoir, "Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise", was selected for "Pierce County Reads".

I just watched a motion picture on dvd-r which I have waited an eternity to see.  The film was William Castle's last directorial effort and featured the amazing Marcel Marceau.  The film, entitled SHANKS, was one of the strangest features I have ever seen.  Part silent movie, part suspense film, part science fiction, part biker film and all fantasy accompanied by a top notch Alex North score.  Other than Marceau, there are two other brilliant French mimes who get to show off their physicality.  Marceau plays two parts, sometimes opposite himself.  It's quite a concoction, and I'm happy that I was finally able to see it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Following that, I delved into the sublime world of THE APPLE. . .it was sitting there on the shelf tempting me. . .so I bit.
