I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews either.

DR Elmore - in the "weird coincidences" department, I've just started reading the latest installment in Rhys Bowen's Molly Murphy mystery series, The Last Illusion.  It's July, 1903, and Molly's Patchin Place neighbors take her to the Majestic to see The Wizard of Oz.  I just read this while having my first cup of coffee this morning...

I'm slowly catching up with the series.  When I'm done dreading "Dreamers of the Day" I'll begin "Danny Boy".

DR Jane - I've thought of trying to put together a "Molly Murphy Walking Tour" of NYC.

That sounds like fun :)

The discussion of THE HELP was enjoyable and interesting.  Everyone loved the book.

Didn't tickle me nearly as much as the last Wil Wheaton episode. Some good lines and some laughs, but I was expecting more.

So was I; what a shame to waste Wil's appearance with so little scripting for him - we know they can do better.

Unfortunately, we are out of food, and won't have more until I pick up Woody at the store at 6PM. I picked up the empty 30 lb bag and had Fletcher watch as I shoke it over his bowl and gave him "sorry hand motions". He gave me a frustrated look, and then went and flopped down for a nap.

OK, time to put the finishing touches on our taco party.  Richard will have to eat early, because he has his first rehearsal tonight for the symphony chorus, which will perform selections from Bernstein's Mass on May 15.

Can you watch any on-line after the fact?

Ken only had problems with the first film, and they were relatively minor.

Well, then he was probably not one of the twits to whom I was referring.  :)  Although I don't even see minor problems with the transfer frankly.  Exactly what were his problems?

And the word of the day is: Shanghai!

And The Song Of The Day Is: (I'D LIKE TO GET YOU) ON A SLOW BOAT TO CHINA

I love Liz Callaway's version of this song!

I do, too, DR George - it's one of my favorites of DR Elmore's orchestrations.

Well, it's actually not mine. It was Alex Rybeck's homage to the McGuire Sisters and I had nothng to do with it! I like it, too, and I've had several requests for it in the past. I always refer them to Alex.

Oops, DR Elmore, I think I've made this same mistake before - sorry.

Would it make up for it if I were to tell you that I think Richard and I will be in Canton July 9-11?

Running on guilt, are we? :D

The Rondo Hatton Horror Awards have been announced.

DR Jrand might be interested to see that Sammy Terry is honored this past year as a midwest legend.  Terry brightened up my living room many a fine Saturday night/Sunday morning hosting a horror film.  I ate many White Castle burgers, fries, and onion chips watching his ghoulish antics.

Also, there is HHW interest in that one of the nominees for "Best Soundtrack or CD" was Kritzerland's "Empire of the Ants".

Sammy Terry scared most of my brothers and sisters......I also enjoyed the after Sammy musings of Wilhelmina who would show 50's rock 'n roll films.

WTTV is now part of the CW family and has NO local programming at all.

There was no question we would not win the award - I was too friendly with Richard Valley, whom those people loathed, for that to ever happen.

I read the review and frankly, once again, I have no idea what he's going on about - I have a great TV, a good Blu Ray player and I simply do not understand anything he's saying - I haven't seen it all yet, but he complains about the TITLES and I certainly have watched those and they certainly look just fine.  They always do this "casual viewer" malarky - what is HE but a casual viewer.  What did he do for a living (or what DOES he do) prior to "reviewing" DVDs and now Blu Rays.  What makes him an expert?  How does he know what DNR is (other than having read about it) or edge enhancement or any of these other terms they so love to bandy about.  I'll tell you - he read about it on the Internet, maybe from Robert Harris, maybe from others.  When these people all use the exact same phrases in every review (and I mean ALL these people), then I'm sorry, it's just like a bunch of people going onto the imdb, reading misinformation, and then all using that same misinformation in their writings.

Just got word that CDs won't arrive tomorrow - they're behind one day, which means that now I won't get them until Monday morning, since I'll be gone until Sunday.  So, that's when they'll go out - thankfully still more than two weeks early.  Monday will now be a VERY busy day with announcing the new title, shipping the old title and all that.

No, I suspect I am more the "casual viewer" in mind - I usually get caught up in a film's theatricality and wouldn't notice many of the "minor flaws" unless they were an obvious distraction. I think the reviewer is considerate to note that flaws he may find distrating would probably not diminish my viewing pleasure at all.

I just prepared a bunch of packages for priority mail and as soon as I have an address confirmed in Germany, I can make a trip to the post office.

I think i'll do some OZ edits now.

Germany?  So, you are still dating Adolph?

DR Ginny, how do you and Richard feel about a trek to Canton, OH?

The Canton Comic Opera Company, the only company in the world dedicated solely to the preservation and performance of American operettas, has just completed a restoration of the original 1903 musical extravaganza THE WIZARD OF OZ by Paul Tietjens and L. Frank Baum.  The work will be performed on July 10, 2010 at the historic Canton Palace Theatre in Canton, Ohio.  The fully staged production will feature a cast of 40 and the original orchestrations performed by a 30 piece orchestra.  This will mark the first production of the original 1903 THE WIZARD OF OZ with orchestra in over 80 years.  In addition, a special concert of cut and interpolated songs from THE WIZARD OF OZ 1902-1909 will be presented on July 9 featuring a lecture by Larry Moore on the history of THE WIZARD OF OZ and our restoration.

The Canton Comic Opera Company's 2010 summer season also includes a concert production with full orchestra of Victor Herbert's 1909 operetta THE ROSE OF ALGERIA on August 14 & 15.

For more information and tickets visit http://www.cantoncomicoperaco.com

Well, a woman has been heard yelling in the bathroom of my upstairs neighbor. I can't tell if he's bothering her while she showers, if they're fighting, or she's got a splinter. I'm hoping he's killing her and they're both evicted.

That's not nice.  You should hope tht she kills him, and then she gets off on "Self-defense."

BK, I am one of "those people" who vote in the Rondo Awards, but I didn't loathe Richard Valley, or anyone else for that matter.

And the voting is open to the public, anyone that is interested in science fiction and horror movies/tv/entertainment.

I got through two OZ edits, "On A Payday Saturday Night" and "It's Enough To Drive A Perfect Lady Mad." I also had a nice visit with the lovely Maureen Silliman, so my day was quite wonderful.

Time for more BONES.

I find understanding in the strangest places:

Fletcher came over to me, put his paw on my knee and started his "my food bowl is empty" bark (this followed by a circular dance when I got up to check).
