Oh yes, DR JMK - I would love to have been at the premiere of COME & GET IT in Seattle.....I am sure it was much more exciting than it was presented in FRANCES.....

I think that scene in FRANCES was shot at the Paramount Theater, where I spent many wonderful Saturday afternoons of my youth.

Since it's been about 5-7 years since I've been back to Seattle, are any of the old downtown theaters still there?

i.e.  Paramount, 5th Avenue, Roosevelt, Colonial, Music Hall, Roosevelt, Palomar, Blue Mouse, Music Box

Both the Paramount and the 5th Avenue are both used for touring productions; although last Christmas they did present the sing-along SOUND OF MUSIC at the 5th Avenue.

They also hold a lot of concerts at the Paramount.  I saw Laura Nyro there years ago.  The Paramount has the absolute worst seats for anyone over 5 feet tall.  Your knees are crushed the moment you sit down.

Are the other theaters gone now?

DR Jane, i was at Chapters (book store) and they had the paper back for THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE. So i sat down and re-read the last chapter.

It was the paperback. So it had the first chapter to the next book. So i decided to read it. It also had a blurb about it (which i had not yet read).

I don't read those "preview" chapters in books.  It drives me crazy not to be able to finish reading the book, plus I have noticed many of them are written as a preview and are not necessarily the first chapter.

I don't usually read them. But since the book is coming out in a few weeks i did.  I'm pretty sure this was the actual first chapter since the third book was already written when this book  (2) went into paperback.
You'll find out soon  :)  I'm half way through the book.  I'm trying to read it slower than I usually read.  I want to savor it & there is too much detail to speed read.

T.O.D.

I also think I would have liked to be at the premiere of A STAR IS BORN.  I used to have a video that had about an hour of the film's premiere on it.  Not the film itself, just an hour outside the theater.

That was included on the last DVD release.

I watched several BONES episodes tonight while I was waiting for primetime TV to come on.

I began with that episode with Booth captured by the Gravedigger. I remember being astonished when the Gravedigger was unmasked though that particular performer always rubs me the wrong way so I shouldn't have been surprised.

I also watched the episodes with Booth laid up with a bad back while they went out searching for a murderer who seems to have killed over movie memoribilia.

I also watched the episode involving the death of the hockey player. Loved seeing David Boreanaz playing hockey, but the mystery wasn't all that wonderful. I do like Wendall as the intern, though. He's always a favorite.

NCIS wasn't all that special this week. That polygraph girl is and always has been really annoying and there was way too much about hook-ups and romance and not enoough about the mystery. They've done better in the past.

GLEE, however, was very special. I loved every song and saved it on the DVR so I can rewatch it tomorrow. Yes, IDOL did indeed go over (irritatingly), but I did add minutes to the recording, so I was fine.

And, for a real change of pace, the episode didn't focus on Rachel at all. In fact, she had no solos whereas Kurt and Mercedes really got to shine. Matthew Morrison and Kristin Chenoweth dueted twice, both times to memorable effect. Their voices blend wonderfully together. If he hadn't been doing GLEE, he should have been the lead in PROMISES, PROMISES revival.

I guess I'll start on those Oshima films tomorrow. Like Godard, he doesn't really make narrative films in the traditional sense, so I have no idea what I'm in for, but that's why I'll likely only do one of these a day unless I really get inspired to do more. (There are five in all.)

And it was nice to actually hear FULL songs again! -Not 90-120 second edits.

I remember gila monsters from when I was young and in living in Arizona.  Horny toads, side winders, frogs too large to hold in your hands.   Just a short trip down memory lane.  ::)

It's cold outside.    This weekend is a trip to the pier two short blocks from where I live.   I hear it is the longest wooden pier still left in CA.   Only fishing and walking are allowed (I think), no cars etc.

Yes indeed. Kurt's "A House Is Not a Home" made me tear up, just as he did.

Now, it's getting late, so I'm going to head downstairs to bed.

We've had rain on and off all night, so I don't know if I'll be able to walk tomorrow morning or not if it's still raining. For April, it has been a pretty dry month, so this rain at the end of the month will help keep the region at normal levels of rainfall for the year.

I still do not have a TV.   But my neighbors have something like 365 channels.   I should hang out over there more often.    I feel totally out of touch with a lot of the posts.

Have been picking up small 1920's/1940's wood furniture instead.  Almost ready to take some pictures.

Well,  since I need to be asleep in 2 hours, most go pay some bills for May.

Finished The Blind Side, finished my liner notes.  In a little while I'll put the motor car away, take a hot shower, and write some notes.

The mastering guy did a masterful job on the rare tracks book CD - some of the source tapes were really bad.
