I will be working on SING A SONG OF SEX for my Criterion work project today. Even with that title, I can't say that I'm looking forward to it.

I am delighted that there will be a new MEDIUM tonight (also a new GHOST WHISPERER which I'm less enthusiastic about; I think this season has been very erractic in quality).

Well, my morning internet surf has come to an end. I'll deal with a few issues in the office and then head downstairs and get ready to go out and run my Friday errands.

BK,

Don't you love it when somebody "gets" your book.

A person just posted this on FB:

" Joanne Capella  is almost finished reading Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  Your mind works in mysterious ways, Mr. Druxman. This must be one of the strangestest books I've ever read, funny, but strange."

 :)

I responded by assuring her that my wife and son think that I am a very starange person.

Friday morning greetings!  Today I have to have a blood test (not fasting), finish a book and season 1 of Castle, and return those items to the library when Richard and I go to Dayton for dinner and to hear Jennifer Chiaverini talk about her newest Elm Creek Quilts book.  Well, I'll listen to her and Richard might wander the bookstore.

Friday media report:

DVD:  As mentioned before, the last 3 episodes of season 1 of Castle

CD:  Mary Chapin Carpenter's newest, The Age of Miracles.  MCC is a favorite of mine and I heard her on Diane Rehm the other day.  What I didn't know is that she has had her own experiences with blood thinners as a result of a pulmonary embolism.

Post deleted - really.  I messed up the quote thing, so I'll just tell DR Elmore that the role of the Countess in MSM's production is being sung by a former student of my friend who teaches at a performing arts high school in Florida.  My friend saw it Wednesday and was very pleased.

The eBay insanity continues--because I haven't paid the seller who doubled his posted shipping charge, eBay has automatically begun an unpaid item alert with me.  "Don't worry--you can appeal the strike after it's posted," says their cheery email.  Good lord.

In the "How Very Maddening" Department, this song has been running through my mind:

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eating goober peas!
Goodness how delicious eating goober peas!

CD:  a lot of Incognito and some lovely Celtic flute music
BD:  I started THE LOVELY BONES last night but wasn't in the mood to see the girl get killed, so I turned it off.  I have to finish the Jet Li film FIST OF LEGEND today for review purposes.

I loved "Fringe" last night...Walter telling a story to Olivia's niece was a real hoot.

And what is a continued joy for me is that the production team seems totally obsessed these days with the Bricusse score to "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".  Last night, Walter sang one of the songs.

Same team does "Lost" and has used tracks from "Wonka" in previews.

AND there is a TV ad that also uses music from "Wonka"....I keep wondering what's up...is something MAJOR about to happen?

I meant to mention this the other day, but a few months ago, we were talking about books (what a concept) and someone suggested I read "Beach Reading".  So I downloaded the sample for the kindle and have since fell in love with the characters and in turn, the series.  So, whoever that was, a big thank you!!

I'm really not used to eating at nine-thirty - I'm sure I'll just have bacon and eggs or something like it.

I needed to find my next commute-read book, so on Wednesday night, I closed my eyes and reached into my pile of unread books and pulled out Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS.  I started into it yesterday morning and, thus far, I'm very intrigued by it and enjoying it a lot.

Strangely enough, I discovered yesterday that a writer for Wired magazine, Jeff Howe, has instituted a sort of bookclub kind of thing through Twitter and that the book to be read is none other than AMERICAN GODS.  Calling it "1 Book, 1 Twitter" (or #1b1t in Twitter-speak), this is a a take-off on the "One Book, One City" programs that happened in Seattle, Chicago and other cities during the past 10 years (and been reported here from time to time.)

It will be interesting having this wide of a shared experience with this many people reading the same book.  But I also think it was a wonderful bit of some kind of global consciousness that guided my hand in selecting that book from my library without having any knowledge that #1b1t was going on.

Morning, all. I'm back from a break at the folks'. It rained most of the time in Louisville. It did not rain in San Antonio. But it is going to rain in San Antonio today. Guess it's following me.

TOD:

DVD: Barbara Cook, Bell Telephone Hour, 1960-1965, and maybe something from the library.

CD: Audra McDonald, maybe some Christine Andreas

Car CD: "The Nervous Set"

I know DR Elmore wasn't thrilled with all aspects of this project, yet he's mentioned in a story about the recording of "Life Begins at 8:40."
