John, thanks for posting the Pacific Overtures clip!I am one of the few that think this is a BRILLIANT show. It has a solid place in my all time favorite Top 10 and most people look at me like I'm crazy. Most people don't even know what show I'm talking about.I went to the Tonys last year and while I certainly had a good time, you're absolutely right, the earlier shows were so special. Now the show is staged for the lowest common denominator (sorry all you non-theatre folk) and you would NEVER get that number on any television awards show. 7 minutes and 15 seconds of brilliance!!!

WHat exactly was Dame Julie billed to do? I didn't think it was supposed to be a songfest.

I am going to get some Ginger Ale today, and maybe some sody crackers.
I was just thinking about COCO the other day whilst watching Rene Auberjonois (sp?) in THE PATRIOT. I've always thought the score was underapreciated, I think A WOMAN IS HOW SHE LOVES is especially excellent.
Jeanne is enjoying a catnip sock.
I take it back, one of those photos is not cute at all!
You know, PACIFIC OVERTURES was filmed in the theater for Japanese television, and it's a shame that performance has never been released in a commercial videotape or DVD. I have seen it, and it's quite wonderful, something fans of the show would really LOVE to have.
