Important question:  (to me anyway :) )

What train stations are closest to Scranton, PA? (say, under an hour or so away)

(preferably Amtrak, but if not Amtrak, anything)

Trailways (bus) offers connecting service from the Amtrak station in Harrisburg.

Amtrak: 1-800-USA-RAIL
Trailways: 1-800-333-8444

Or maybe not.  Well.. At least as far as Trailways is concerned. Oh...

It's Greyhound (1-800-231-2222) between Harrisburg and Scranton.

Thanks, jose.

But let's say someone from Scranton were going to pick me up at the train station and bring me to Scranton.  What are  the closest train stations  to Scranton?

I think I did what Jose did & came up with Harrisburg.  I was waiting to see if the all knowing DR Jose had better info than I found.  Since he doesn't  :o  I think you may need to call Amtrak, and good luck with that.

Interesting, while watching something on the Food Network (Canada) they showed a promo for Top Chef Canada.  I doubt it will be as good as the US version. But it's still exciting.

I really thought this afternoon would be totally free - but I have not stopped since nine this morning.  Maybe that's good - took my mind off my tummy.  I had to begin prepping two releases today, and that's always a lot of work when things have to be edited.

I have only read the first one hundred pages, so far; but I am in love with BK's autobiography.  HIs writing style is so honest and so direct; I feel like he is talking just to me.  Awesome!

Harrisburg seems to be 90 miles away from Scranton.  No closer train station?

It really doesn't need to be Amtrak.   (I like Amtrak, but it doesn;t have to be.)

That's the way I felt when I read Beverly Sills' autobiography...it was like she was just chatting and telling her stories to me, too. :)

I can't wait to start reading BK's autobiography...but I must. :(

There are no passenger trains remotely close to Scranton.  New Jersey Transit will get you to Hackettstown, but then you'd be driving more than an hour.

The bus is your best bet.

re: last night's THE AMAZING RACE FINALE

I don't watch THE AMAZING RACE, but I was rather delighted when I read who won. I follow the progress of teams through recaps each week.
These guys started out doing poorly and seemed to have gotten better as the season progressed. Of course, as with most of the teams, there's always trouble along the way, some good luck or bad luck, all of which makes the show so watchable.

I don't know if you'd be so happy if you had seen the show last night.  The winning team started the night by doing something which i considered very ugly and made me want them to lose in a big way.  They were 3-6 hours behind the 2nd place team and they arrived at the airport. The then 2nd place team (the cowboys) were lying on the floor in line. And dan and jordan decided to put their bags in front of theirs and take their space in front of them. And they would not move. This did not really affect the leg of the race. But it was classless and really ugly.
And to me the winning team did not really improve. They did do well in the last leg. But up until last night they showed nothing. They were always in the middle. They did not show any physical superiority or mental. They were whiney.  I can appreciate that the one brother loves the show and it was his dream.  But i hate when teams that are not good at the race win.  Although that said the cowboys were awful last night. They did not force dan and jordan aside at the airport. They stood like idiots during another challenge. And they could not figure out about the spinning.  Oh and the final challenge was pathetic and way too easy! (although that is neither teams fault).

The winners were brilliant in asking to be bumped to first class.  That was what really made the difference.  It was a great move and I'm glad they won

Just finished watching CAPTIVE CITY (1952). Wow, what a good movie...I was in suspenders the whole time!

DR Druxy, I recorded it to DVDr for you and will get it in the mail this week. I don't know why, but whenever I record a movie from MGM HD onto a dvdr the picture is always smaller then normal. I hate that.

Where has the day gone. I am on vacation all week, so of course the week is already zooming by.

I shall now eat some dinner whilst watching a Penny Singleton/Glenn Ford comedy.

Back from the AAUW dinner at the Golden Lamb.  We had a nice surprise - all the information we'd received ahead of time said our entree choices would be turkey or chicken, but the server asked, "Do you want turkey or salmon?"  No question for me and it was fabulous.  We had salad, rolls, salmon (or turkey), vegetables, mashed potatoes, pie, and beverage, all for $17 including tax and tip.

Oh, and the 2010-11 officers are duly installed.

And now, I'm off.  I need to get some canned cat food for my cat.  This morning, I gave her the last of what there was and I must get some before tomorrow.  Tonight will be some TV watching and tomorrow, I go to the dentist for my semi-annual check-up.

Until later!
