RIP Gary Coleman

I had read an article about his brain hemorrhage, I clicked on a link for another article, then went back and the first article had already been updated to announce that he'd died...just within a few seconds. :-\

I just heard that the husband of my friend Jeanne Lehman died of a heart attack last night. He was a good fellow.

My friend Nona (who died about five years ago) was good friends with Jeanne Lehman and spoke of her fondly.

This is really terrible, but the first thing I thought of when I heard about Gary Coleman is that I feel really sorry for the composers and companies of Avenue Q.

Not terrible, DR Kerry.  Here's an item that may interest you:

I started watching AVATAR on Wednesday night....but only watched about half an hour....I might watch some more of it.....sometime.

We timed our viewing so we could watch it in one sitting.  It is a beautiful movie to watch.

Our family had some bad news yesterday. My nephew Daniel (my younger brother Dan's son) was diagnosed with lymphoma. He had been suffereing from extreme stomach pain and they found he had a blockage in his intestines, which the doctors removed last week. Test revealed cancer.

He is only 25 years old and has two young children. Just so sad, and he is such a good kid.

So, any spare good thoughts, prayers, or vibes would be most welcomed as he begins chemotherapy.
Prayers, thoughts and healing vibes.

Tuna, pasta (macaroni noodles), red onion, mayo.  Simple, effortless, and very yummilicious.

That sounds good, I should have read this before I ate dinner

Condolences, DR Elmore, on the loss of your friend. I heard Jeanne in concert with John McGlinn up in Albany years ago. They did the score for "Very Warm for May." I think Rebecca Luker was also part of the concert. Anyway, the performance of "All the Things You Are" will a full orchestra was even more spectacular than it is on the recording McGlinn made with many of the same performers.

I, too, wondered about "Avenue Q." I even said something at work about it, and they stared at me as if I had horns growing out of my head upside down (instead of the usual, right-side-up horns I am usually accused of sporting). I guess nobody knew the show, even though it toured through town a couple of years ago.

I'm really glad I took the afternoon off. I feel like I've already been off work for an entire day.  Whew do I need a break to work on the house.  I'm thinking about stripping wall paper and painting instead of doing outside work, at least until the cold front goes through on Saturday night and the temps drop.  I should plant my garden if I'm going to do it.  I'll just see how I feel tomorrow

A friend gave me some home made Miso.  (He learned how to make it when he lived in Japan)  Anyone have good recipes?  He suggested as a marinade

Here's a link for miso soup that looks really good:

Thanks John G.  I was looking at that one.  I tried to find soba noodles, but didn't see them at the store.  I'll try the Asian store tomorrow. Is there a good substitute for soba noodles?

DR TCB re: the Sex & The City 2 movie gettting a bomb rating.

I can only speak for myself. And it makes me feel bad/sad/mad when a movie i'm looking forward to seeing gets a bomb rating.  But it makes me even more upset when they let someone review it who knows they will hate it before even going in. It just makes me wonder why bother making that person sit through it. And why make me read it.

But no one made you read it, Jennifer.

DR JMK takes the cake! I will be acknowledge him in the notes to the new recording. He will be in good company, with excellent scholars and copyists.

I thought constipate was a worthy guess.

JMK, do you plan on sending out change of address notices?

We sent them out to magazines, etc.  If you personally want it, just let me know.
