That is interesting that DR JohnG wrote that he believes american audiences would not buy THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO if it was dubbed in English.

So they will be happier to have a Swedish movie with English subtitlees?

I haven't seen many dubbed movies. But both of these films were dubbed in French here. And i liked it that way fine. Better I think than if i was watching it in Swedish with subtitles.
Yes, I think audiences are happier with the subtitles.

I disagree. The preview does not show any indication of this being a Swedish film with subtitles. I wonder how many people going to the movie will have no idea.

I don't think Swedish is a language most people would have any understanding of. So i think it would make it much more difficult to watch.

Maybe it depends what you go in expecting. But the french dub is so right on that you think you're watching a french film.

I find it easier to read subtitles if I have no idea what they are saying.  When I know the language, I tend to notice the differences between what I think they are saying and what the subtitle says rather than just going with the story

I remember the one Sunday.  Glad you saw the others, I was worried about the coyote.  Although if a cat can scare a pit bull...well...

Coyotes kill cats.

I'd just never seen one so close to my house before.

The Weather Channel Vortex 2 crew was in Sioux City.  They are not exactly the people I want to see in my town.  They are chasing tornados, after all.

The constant harping on subtitles, dubbing. and THE GIRL WITH THE HORNET'S NEST TATTOOED TO HER ASS and an American film version for two days now has worn me out. I'm going to bed.

That's so true. No one ever cared about Ingmar Bergman and his films.

Great one, DR Elmore.

If i go to the movies and see a preview with no dialogue, I automatically assume it's a foreign film. But then again, I generally go to art houses on the rare occasion I actually get to the movies.

Topic of the Day:  in my sister's fairly new Blu-ray player today, we watched "The Blind Side."  I'd never seen it before but my mom said that she's seen it three times.  We all thoroughly enjoyed it very much!

I've put away my laundry, ....

This just reminded me that I put in a load of laundry to wash about two hours ago...and it's still in the washing machine.  I totally forgot about it.  It's been sitting there for more than an hour, waiting for me to put it in the dryer. ::)
