Rainy dreary day today. And the same is scheduled for tomorrow.

This is the first day in a while where i couldn't really bike. Well I was only available after 5pm. I did get 20 minutes in. But then it started raining. And i had to do a really boring bike ride. Just going back and forth down this huge street on a bike path. I wanted to make sure i was always 5 minutes from home so when it rained i wouldn't have far to go.

A very very very long day at Toyland! A lot was accomplished, so I can't complain, but this body is quite tired. If only I could find my LADY OF THE SLIPPER libretto notes. I could not ;locate them in the office and i have no idea where the hell they may be.

When I'm caught in a downpour while hiking it isn't as bad as riding a bike.  I usually have some sort of extra clothing to put on.

My break is over, back to cleaning.  I even mopped today, with a little swifter.  I can't work a real mop yet.

If you are familiar with the actor Anthony Heald  you might find this article interesting.  He lives in Ashland & is now a regular actor with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Good news. The Horseshoe Fire in southern Arizona is 25% contained. That's up from 0% yesterday.

Richard and I prepared ourselves a nice dinner of barbecued chicken, twice-baked potatoes (store-bought, frozen, not as good as homemade), and sugar snap peas.  After dinner, we watched The Princess and the Frog and now we're watching a Bones rerun.

Jane, I am writing about Ashland at this very moment.  Opus Arte has started releasing "real" Globe Theater productions and I have to review their 2009 Romeo & Juliet.  I am starting my review with a comment or two about my experiences at Ashland's "Globe."  Perhaps JR would like me to work in some comments about Ms. Appel.  ;)

JMK, how are these Globe tapes?  Been considering buying them.

I've only seen the Blu-ray of R&J so far.  (I think As You Like It is due next month for me to review).  Production is middling to very good.  The titular actors are very young and (for me, anyway) didn't quite have the gravitas needed for the roles.  The rest of the cast is wonderful, the physical production is very good, and there's some good use of music.  The really surprising thing for me was how many laughs the piece got (intentionally, in case you were wondering).  ;)

I don't know if we will get to see The Merchant of Venice.  I would like to see his take on Shylock.  The last time the play was performed there were loads of protests, this time I haven't heard anything.

Interesting about the younger actors.  I've heard complaints the new director, who began in '09, replaced a number of the regular actors with younger & less talented ones.

And a lovely theatre it is! Truly an amazing space. I saw one of their final performances in September of 2002; their season runs something like May to September.

the Vixter and I did decided to go to the University - back when Long Isaldnm was farmland instead of suburbia  this school used to be an Agricutural College .  In teh past 20 yeasr or so it has been gradually changingits emphasisa asn now no longer teaches animal husbandy - it does however  still teach horticulture .

We had a lovely walk through the gardens - there were some exotic flowers I had never seen before
