I was just sent a copy of THE WHITE RIBBON.

I've been looking forward to seeing this one.

Back from a nice lunch with Cason and Barry - Barry and I will now do some work here.  I STILL have not had the courtesy of a response from the helper - and I need to get stuff back from her.

I've been to dinner with my friend Val from Barnes & Noble. We went to the new Five Napkin Burger at 84th and Broadway. She got the fish and chips and I got the yummilicious mac and cheese and then we each took half of the other's dish. The gossip was good and the laughs were plenty. I've got a bit of work here tonight and then I'm chilling out,

There have been a couple of sit-coms (including the Partridge Family) where family members, playing Scrabble, are so desperate to find words within the letter tiles they have that they make up ficticious words. ("Ficticious" is a nice-sounding word, isn't it.) Anyway, one of the funniest scenes I saw was in the Keaton family where the father made up "zoquo" - meaning to participate in water sports, and Alex made up "ushnu" - meaning to towel off. When asked to use the word "ushnu" in a sentence, Alex P. Keaton said, "After I zoquo, I like to ushnu" in such a matter-of-fact way that I laughed and laughed. I still like the words "zoquo" and "ushnu" to this day.

No news from helper.  If I haven't heard from her by tomorrow I will be paying her a little visit at the theater where she does her show.

I'm reading GOD'S SECRETARIES, a wonderful book on the commissioning and translation of the King James version of the Bible. DR Ginny, has richard read this?

I don't think so, DR Elmore, and I was trying to think of a book to get him for Father's Day.  They have at the Barnes & Noble near my niece's in Illinois, so I'll be able to pick it up this weekend.  Sssshhhh, don't tell Richard, OK?

Thanks for the timely recommendation!

My mother survived the cortisone shot in her hip, which she thought would be like getting a flu shot.  No-o-o-o, it was quite a procedure and she's to take it easy the rest of the evening.  I made sure she had her emergency call beeper around her neck before I left.

When I got home, Richard and Rob loaded the loveseat we're replacing into my Vibe and we delivered it to the garage sale site.  We picked up fried chicken, enjoyed dinner, and now I'm ready to veg in front of the TV for a while.

I don't know that any specific words are my favorites.  I have learned by using interpreters that I use a lot of idioms

I had a great conversation with my friend Billy from Nigeria today.  He has some really great idioms and with his accent it's as fun to hear them as it is to enjoy the poetic nature of the word image
