BK, do you have a lawyer acquaintance?

In all seriousness, if she has completely cut off contact and you know that she's not incapacitated, you should leave one last message that you'll have to resort to legal action since this effects your livelyhood.  And then you'll have to follow through with it and let an actual lawyer do the next contact attempt...

Yesterday was Tony Day. Does that make this Broadway Closing Week?

Monday morning greetings!  We're gearing up slowly here in Normal, IL, for a day of shopping.  My niece, Laura, is a golf pro, so she's been on her phone and computer all morning working on a fundraising golf event that will be held at her club on Wednesday.

I did not watch the Tony Awards last night 'cause I was watching a Bollywood movie, and I had not enough room on my DRV to record the show in HD. So I passed. I am pleased to know that Denzel Washington won. I think he is a fabulous actor and I would love to see FENCES.

Didn't watch the Tony show...and reading the comments this morning, I'm glad I didn't.

I don't quite understand the animosity toward actors who have had success in films being feted for their work on Broadway, but to each his own.   I do realize there is a lot of "pandering" in order to juice up boxoffice takes...which sort of explains some really dreadful casting decisions over the past years.

Given what has transpired over the past decade, it rather makes Liz Taylor's turn in "The Little Foxes" seem like a major class act.

(Who here remembers Jackie O's sister Lee Radziwill making an acting debut on TV playing "Laura"?  Oof-tah!)

I have asked repeatedly for the invoices to be returned.  I've asked nicely.  I'm trying to be calm but calm doesn't work for me after this many attempts.  I haven't yelled at her - the only thing I've said in my messages is that I don't understand, that this kind of behavior in lieu of the fact of how good I've been to her is weird to me, and that I need the invoices.

What I found interesting about last night's Best Actor and Actress winners in both categories is that all four won playing roles in revivals in which the original cast members also won Tony Awards:

James Earl Jones won Best Actor for FENCES
Mary Alice won for Best Featured Actress for FENCES
George Hearn won for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
Glynis Johns won for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

So, Dan (the Man), maybe it is the role that wins, not the actor.

I was up until 3:00 am reading and finishing The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. There just wasn't a stopping point where I could easily put the book down and go to sleep.  What a good book.  Glad I bough the trilogy so I can start the next one right away.

It sometimes seems that way, DR Laura.  There are some roles--Tevye, Hedda Gabler, Madea--that just seem to always get their actors nominated, at least.

I think I will hit those books later this summer.

What would your flag look like, DR Cillaliz?

And my favorite example of the role winning and not the actor was the three-way tie last year of the three actors portraying the one role in "Billy Elliot."

Well, I don't have my own flag, but as I walked out of the courthouse after a very contentious divorce with my ex fighting over nothing , I looked around and saw all the flags flying for Flag Day and it made me smile and feel free.   I remember that feeling every year on Flag Day.

I missed C Z-J doing Clowns last night, but there was a clip from Broadway.com from a commercial I caught.  I have to say when I saw Glynis shortly after the original opened, my thought at the time (which I’ve never forgotten) was, “Wow—is the song starting now?”, so perfectly low-key was her delivery.  It just kind of segued effortlessly out of the dialogue and it took me a moment or two to realize the song had started.  No “acting” at all.  ;)

I've been out and about and I'm home. Last night the ass made a lot of noise when he arrived about 1:40 am. I still think he's smuggling munitions or committing other terrorist activities. Could that get him deported?
