We were doing Williams' original 3rd act, the one in which "Big Daddy" does not appear on stage.

He was sitting offstage, following in the script, but his thumb was covering the cue where he was supposed to moan.

He was a marvelous "Big Daddy," though.

I always think of questions to ask on all the other days, but forget them when Wednesday rolls around. I really need to write them down.

Or you could be like the rest of us and just ask them when you think of them

Congrats on having your guidelines praised, Cillaliz. Having fought many preservation battles over the years, I would love to read them!

When I'm done with them, I'll send them to you.   Not having design review, they are really more recommendations than binding guidelines, so they are less technical and more direct. Unless you want to review them now and give me some advice.

I'm awake!  Last night, I did a pal a favor and played a rehearsal of Urinetown! for him.  I hadn't looked at that score for 4 years and didn't have much time to prepare.  It's such a great show, and eventually it all came back to me, but it was rough!!   Tonight is a run through and then I'm done.  He's a really great guy and his cast is stellar.  However, the MD is useless.  The director is also a musician and an MD in his own right, so it's really frustrating for him.  I know the show will be great, but I'm sorry that he has to deal with the useless MD (who doesn't play piano!!!)

I was anxiously awaiting your opinion.

Not how I thought the people or places would look, but I got past that very quickly.  I got into it so much that for a while I thought they were speaking English.  I love it when that happens.  It was violent, but I anticipated more based on the book

It has been so long since I read the book I don't remember much violence.  I'm more concerned I'll have trouble getting past the casting.  I will find out tonight.

Perhaps there isn't much call for it in sunny L.A.

Although, I notice in old movies that place in L.A women wear fur coats and men wear suits...and wouldn't they all bake to death in that heat???

How did you watch it that you didn't have both the English subtitles and the English dubbed version? (since I assume the dvd has both).

I would be curious to watch it both ways.

I really don't think you'll have a problem with the casting because it's a foreign film. They are all unknowns.  And everybody in the film looks like a real person (not like a beauty). I could not believe when i first watched it that various actors had pock marks on their faces and other things.

I am usually very picky. When i read a book vs the movie casting. But in this case i just went with the cast and there was nobody that i couldn't believe in their part.

I have miraculously avoided learning anything about these THE GIRL WHO... books so far and I think I will jump into them as soon as finish slogging through reading the Charles M. Schulz book.  Or I might make quick work of the Stephen King BASEBALL BILLY book, which I couldn't resist picking up this weekend at Barnes & Noble at 50% off (plus an additional 10% membership discount.)
