FEELING MY OATS
« on: August 25, 2010, 12:32:37 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes rhymed with oats, and not it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're doing something with oats that even I don't want to know about.

Good morning, all! I have put off laundry as long as possible, so thins morning I have to do it. I've got other things to do as well, some writing on Victor Herbert, a bit of choral writing, and cleaning the apartment. This afternoon I may go out with my beloved goddaughter Charlotte; I want to hear all about her summer at Shakespeare and Co.

Wednesday morning greetings!  I feel much better this morning, allergy-wise, and will soon begin gearing up for my first cardiac rehab session.

I wonder if DR JRand ever figured out what Orison Bean was singing in that song in ILLYA, DARLING?

Last night I rushed home (as much as one can rush when someone else is driving the train), rushed though dinner, then ripped open the LOST Season 6 package, found the disc containing the bonuses, tossed it into the DVD player and sat back in anticipation of the series epilogue, "The New Man In Charge".

My question for ASK BK  Day.....what do you think was the most successful exploitation film advertising campaign in the 1950's?

DR MBARNUM sent me a nifty package of entertainment yesterday - so last night I enjoyed watching Miss Mamie Van Doren in two of her finest films - UNTAMED YOUTH and COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL.....CC of course also features Miss Jayne Meadows and two of my favorite folk singers Mr Randy Sparks and Ms Judy Henske.....Mr Sparks looking better in bathing attire than does Ms Henske.
Conway Twitty also "acts" in this movie....making Mamie look like Meryl Streep by comparison.

I also received CRASH LANDING featuring Ms Nancy Davis and Mr Gary Merrill and Mr Roger Smith....from the same people who brought you THE GIANT CLAW.....most entertaining!

Thank you DR MBARNUM for the movies and the card!

Wow JRand, you watched all three of those films in one day...your mind must have turned to mush.

Note: the two flight attendants in CRASH LANDING are both recent interviewees of mine...their stories will appear in CLASSIC IMAGES in the near future.

Ok, time to catch people up on the last two days.

Monday and Tuesday were both teacher in-services at school.  I wasn't too excited to go back, but somehow, now I am.  I guess that's good.

Monday night, I say a Rufus Wainwright concert at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.  The last time I was there I saw Linda Eder and Burt Bacharach.  They remodeled the amphitheater and it's gorgeous up there now.  The concert was amazing.  First of all, Rufus' sister, Martha, opened for him and she's a great talent.  Very witty, very talented.  Then Rufus came out and did his latest CD - just him and the piano and some projections.  He performed it as a song cycle and asked that no one applaud until he left the stage.  I believe the CD is a tribute to his mom who passed away in January.  From our seats, we could see him at the keyboard, and he was just amazing.  His fingers moved effortlessly over the keyboard, I really can't describe his talent.  The second half was just him and a piano again and he played a lot of his songs from his other CD's.  It was just an amazing night.  Maybe the best concert I have ever been to.

And that brings us up to date.

Tonight is a Sunset Blvd production meeting and I'm really anxious to see what the set designer has planned.  Saturday is auditions, which I'm looking forward to.  I'm so excited about this show, but that's old news.

I've had one call & one email checking on us.  It seems our local fire has made the news big time.  I'm glad to report it has been contained.

Nice.  All of the men kept commenting how stacked the one girl was.....but I guess nobody told the casting director and costumer she was supposed to be.

It was so "warm" last night that I could not get comfortable in my bed.

I made a pallet on the living room floor...and turned on the AC (window unit).  There I slept for about four hours.  I got up and checked my room at about 2:30 a.m. and found it was cool.  I returned to my bed and slept until the alarm went off.

Major cool should return this evening.

But yesterday was a SCORCHER.

I did something to my lower back yesterday and was in a fair amount of pain all night (a waterbed is terrible for a sore back).

I wish I knew what i did (it wasn't lifting anything). And it's my left lower back (it's usually my right lower back that hurts). So i'm hobbling around today.  Surprisingly it feels pretty good to bike (you'd think it would be very painful). So i will try that later.

I tried a heating pad but that didn't help.  I wonder if hooping would absolutely kill.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada started this week. And Mary Murphy was a judge. I was so happy to see her (she judged a bit last year and was at some of the auditions this year). I really hope that she will be on every week. Or at least a lot. I missed her so much on the US version.
