Since I'm not a NYC resident and I have only been to Lincoln Center once, isn't that the location of Jullliard?  Seems to me that something like Barnes and Nobel would be essential for purchasing of DVD's and CD's in that area ever since they closed all the Tower Records.  It's really sad that something like that has to go away because of rent.

With the recent relocation and renovation of the Juilliard Bookstore - not to mention the overhaul of the Metropolitan Opera Gift Shop and CD/DVD store, well...

I'm just wondering if downsizing that 4-story B&N location is an option.

Well, I'm going to attempt to get off of my couch and do some work around my apartment. Pray for Rosemary's Baby. -Or at least Carmelita's. ;)

Back from a two-mile jog and must now get ready for people to arrive.

My all-time favorites are Bismarks (custard-filled, chocolate iced) and apple fritters, but there are very few (that I can think of) that I would refuse.

I have no memory of when or what my first donut was.

I'm not a huge fan of the cake donut.  Except maybe the blueberry ones.  I enjoy the raised, and the filled bars, and of course the apple fritter.

According to the DP, the apple fritter is made from scraps of old donuts and mixed together with an apple filling thing and then deep fried.  Can't think of anything better.

TOD:
I, too, fondly recall the Helm's truck. I have no such memories for various other trucks, so I don't know exactly what it was about the Helm's truck.

I liked glazed donuts as a child. Many years ago, when I cleaned up my diet, donuts went. Some foods, such as ice cream, returned (my downfall weightwise and cholesterolwise), but not donuts. But then, I've never had homemade ones.

I had my first Beard Papa recently, a cream puff from Japan. I'm afraid I wasn't overwhelmed, which is actually a good thing.

Back from cardiac rehab, where my workout has been stepped up a notch.  The driving went fine and I even stopped at Kathryn's to inhale the Vera Bradley a bit.  Didn't buy anything, just visited.

I've always wanted to attend one of those CD-release events at the Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble - oh, well...

Alas, another one will be biting the dust next January...

Barnes & Noble Near Lincoln Center Will Close in January 2011

I don't understand how the landlords of the property in today's economic climate are making the rent so high that a store like Barnes and Noble has to close instead renewing their lease. I have been to that Banes and Noble and my question is: "Do the landlords really think that they can find new tenants willing to pay the rent that B & N find it difficult to pay?"

Do NYC landlords think they are immune from the downturn in the economy?

I was listening to SHSN just before I clicked onto HHW. I am now on Crossword Puzzle.

Has anyone heard the London Cast album?

Montreal has been blessed with beautiful weather during my stay. My parents went out and they found it very hot. I've been out twice since they came back and I find it refreshing. I rather have this heat than the heat index in Florida reaching 105F

I don't think bookstores in Oregon will ever go the way of the dinosaur. They are just too beloved.

I have it and I like it...not as much as the original, though.  But I like that there are some song differences.  The weirdest thing, however, is their American accents, especially on the word "Nirvana."  It's supposed to be "nirr-vah-nuh" but for some reason they all sing "nuh-VAR-nuh."

A most happy birthday to DR Hisaka, who I had the joy to meet some years back when I visted L.A.

Have a great birthday and hope all is well in Japan!

Interestingly enough, there have been some "complaints" on various food blogs that the Beard Papa locations in California seem to "taste different" from the ones elsewhere. -Including the one remaining store here in NYC which is a "company store" as opposed to a licensed franchise. -Which could have something to do with it.  However, I do have to say my favorite Beard Papa treat is their "Mango Ice Shower", shaved ice topped with chunks of mango. Man is that tasty and refreshing.

Also, in there defense(?), even though they make "To Go" packs, they really are best enjoyed right after they've been filled to order in the store.

I don't eat donuts very often, but I sure do like Krispy Kreme donuts when I do treat myself to one.

DR Laura, last night while I was watching SOUTH PACIFIC, every time Bloody Mary yelled "stingy bastard!" I thought of you. You should have auditioned to be her standby.

I did too! LOL!
