Morning has broken.

But I swear I was not the one to break it!

We just got back from K-Mart where I bought two (so I would have another when I need it) watchbands.

DR Elmore - "da UP, eh" is the Upper Peninsula (Michigan) in Yooper dialect.  Tahquamenon Falls is a state park on the shores of Lake Superior.  And DALMAC is the 4-day bicycle event for which Mary Linda's parents have been training all summer.  They trained in hot, humid weather and now it's cold, blustery, and rainy.

Thanks for asking, elmore, I felt stupid asking.

It was dirty work, but someone had to do it.

You guys do know that I wrote my original post intending to get exactly these reactions, don't you  8) ?

I knew it!

TOD:

Can't say I ever followed any murder cases as they were happening with any particular diligence, but I've always been fascinated by the Jack the Ripper murders and have an extensive array of books on the subject.  I'm also fascinated with the fate of the Princes in the Tower and do not believe they met their end at the hands of Richard III.  At the moment my money's on Buckingham.

When we were in London, the first night we took the Jack the Ripper walking tour.

Spooky, but fascinating.

I've been to Staples and spent money, and now I have about half of a vocal arrangement to finish writing. After that, THRILLER!

RE: Ted Bundy -

My nephew told me that he and his family were at a Seattle park one holiday weekend, and when they got home they heard on the news that a body had just been discovered at that same park.  Turned out to be one of Bundy's.

It might have been that 4th of July previously mentioned.

When I was managing a shoe store in downtown Seattle in the mid-70s, my salesman and his girlfriend were very excited when they managed to rent the apartment of the first murdered victim in the string of Ted murders in the Northwest.  Her name was Lynda Healy and she vanished from her bedroom without a trace, except for one small drop of blood that was found on her pillow.

I was invited over for dinner at their apartment, but I passed.

BK,

You might recall this incident...and the name of the person.

In the mid-late 1960s, there was this guy who had a 99-seat theatre workshop on Vine Street, between Sunset and Melrose.

I recall he did one show that took place in a mental institution (Not CUCKOO'S NEST) that got great reviews.

Anyway, one day one of his students came into the theater and shot him to death.

His wife was an actress, and I don't recall either of their names.  Do you?

I'm listening to BBC Radio Wales and trying to decide what to have for dinner. Now that we have so much food it's hard to know what to eat.

Another, even scarier case (for me) that took place in the early 1980s:

Took place in Agoura Hills. CA.  It was a very well-publicized case, but I don't recall the names of any of the people involved.

This high school kid was driving home from summer school when he was ambushed, shot and killed by another student, a "nice Jewish boy".

It seems that, a week or two before, the victim had surprised the shooter, catching him in bed with another guy.  The shooter was afraid that the victim would "out," him, which is why he did what he did.

I think the shooter was sentenced to "life," and over the years various governors kept denying him parole.

THE REASON I am aware of this case is that my son, David, was also going to summer school that year.  I would drive him there in the morning and I paid another kid to drive him home every day.

The kid I paid was the victim in this case.

Thankfully, David stopped riding with him (don't recall the reason) about 2 weeks before the kid was ambushed.

I did a two-mile jog in this horrendous heat.  Then I spent two hours on the telephonic device with Mr. Nick Redman, after which I got some lunch, then picked up some packages and mail.  I'm back home and I don't think I have anything else to do, travel-wise.

I see that no one is on right now. I just wanted to say "Hello."  Still 9 days until my hip replacement surgery (Monday, September 13). I'm counting the days and don't spend much time on the computer. "Cheers" to everyone.

Very briefly, he was a publicity client, but I can't recall his name.

DS Rob just called from "da UP, eh," to tell us that he and Mary Linda are taking a day trip to Tahquamenon Falls and that both of Mary Linda's parents have left the bike trail today due to lousy weather conditions.  They'll try to rejoin the DALMAC tomorrow.

I don't know what any of that meant.

i am back from lunch with Joseph Rubin and wondering (AGAIN!!!!) what the hell is going on with the Victor Herbert MD.

The UP is the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.  Over and over we heard how beautiful it was.  Finally the summer before we moved we rented an RV and drove up with Craig & Sherlock.  Basically all we saw was rain and fog.

T.O.D.

Without a doubt, Ted Bundy.  Ted went to my high school, and in fact he sat behind my sister in roll room for all three years.  Of course, when the story started there was no name associated with the murrders, and only after a double murder on Fourth of July did a witness come forward and mention being approached my a man named Ted in a VW.

I followed the story through both of his escapes from jail, his final murder spree in Florida, and finally his execution.  A lot of people around this area hoped that Ted would confess, before he died, to the murder of little Ann Marie Burr who disappeared in the early Sixties and was never found.  Many local police always believed that Ann Marie was Ted's first victim.  He was 15 at the time.

Creepy to know someone like that.

I lost a friend and neighbor this past week, someone who lives in the building. He died in his sleep.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Were you friends before or after you were neighbors?

Hello, everyone,

Ginny, I continue to be amazed at your progress. I hope to soon hear that you're back to normal, but with the addition of  some new heart-healthy favorite foods and an exercise program you really like.

Thanks so much, DR Jeanne!  Fortunately, I already liked a lot of heart-healthy foods but didn't eat enough of them and ate too many of the *others*  As for the exercise, I'm tempted to try more than I should at this stage of cardiac rehab Phase 2.

To answer your question from the other night about pre-warning signals, yes, I had family history of heart disease (father and sister), out-of-whack cholesterol, and a sedentary life style.  Two of those three are now in my hands and I'm doing everything I can to address them.  I was sorry to hear that you've been spending time with a cardiologist...

Is Richard also following your new exercise and diet regime?

Listening to the new master for Sugar - it sounds amazing - the remix, that is.  When you compare it to the original it seems like an entirely different album, which, in essence, it is.

Sammy Williams came over and picked up some sheet music for Stages - he's thinking of doing a song from it in his club act.
