Okay, someone needs to explain this to me: Last night before going to bed I was watching this perfectly horrid little TV movie on Fox Movie Classics - Love and Betrayal: The Mia Farrow Story.  What is this film based on?  If it's based on a biography rather than Mia's book, HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS TRIPE?  I've watched TV films with bad bad writing (The Natalie Wood Story comes to mind) but this is so tawdry and stupid and poorly written and how did Woody OR Mia stand for it.  Even if it's based on her book how did she stand for it?  This was made in 1995.

"Tell me, do they have auditions for television?"

Okay, it's based on two, not one, tabloid bio books.  I think we ought to publicly flog both writer and director of this film - Karen Arthur (one of the world's worst) and Cynthia Cherbak.
I do understand they get well paid - I just want to know how desparate either of them were to put their names on this type of disgusting drivel.

The movie was based on a bio NOT by Farrow and a couple of other unauthorized bios.

If they were dealing with known facts I think they were safe, but I don't know HOW they were able to impersonate living real people without releases or permission.

Anyway, I do have Leslie-Sing-Along-With-Uggams to listen to, thanks to Dear Reader Tomovoz....

Of course all I read into all that information François is that EuroDisney will still be open in mid October. Thank you for the update from our resident mouse expert. (not to be confused with dead rodent in walls expert).

Oh my!

If I had not lived and worked in the States -- and in a restaurant at some time!-- I would wonder why US visitors have such an "obsession" with ice... at any moment of day and night!

I even have a Canadian friend who chews on it!!!
I can't stand that!

Icy cold drinks! Yikes!!

Good evening all.

You know, they say that the net is a cold place, filled with dangerous people yet here at HHW I have found the warmest welcomes and the best group of friends one could wish for.  Thank you one and all for the wonderful Birthday wishes.

I have been the Birthday Bandit today!  I walked into work and had a balloon and card waiting for me.  Then one of my best “buds” gave me a travel alarm clock to take with me on the trips.  Then (because I am still on my diet) we had pastries as in apple turnovers–Yum!-- Much better than cake!  I was also given a lovely yellow Calla Lilly.  Not done yet!  One of the ladies had made collard green soup for Christmas last year.  I just LOVED it and have been asking for it at every function.  Well, the lady who made that wonderful soup brought in a whole crock pot full for all of us to enjoy!  Then I was taken to lunch at the Columbia and had the 1905 salad.

Then I came home to all the wonderful wishes from all of you here on the board.  Who could ask or hope for anything more?   :)

It hard to believe I only have 5 more days until I leave for Utah.  Next week at this time I will be getting ready for the first Michael Ball concert.  I can’t wait!

If they were dealing with known facts I think they were safe, but I don't know HOW they were able to impersonate living real people without releases or permission.

It's public record. And if it's done from the POV of someone else whose rights they DO have - they can say "we're just telling X's story - the way he saw things."
I once worked with a man who was one of the cops in the real French Connection (the Roy Scheider character, I think). He had become a producer. We were doing a "true story" and I had qualms because we didn't have the rights of three of the five main characters. And we were saying some pretty heavy things about them. Day after day he would say to me, "When we did the French Connection we only had the rights of so and so. As long as it's through his eyes, you're fine."
Well, I didn't see it that way and I eventually left the project.

But isn't it funny - if they're seeing all these real people through the tabloid bio writer's eyes, why is the ONE person's name they changed the ATTORNEY - Gloria Allred (Alter, in the movie).  Hmmm.

Is it Saturday yet?

I believe we'll have good news re our DVD site - it looks like we're going to keep it open, albeit with a name change and its own domain address.  We've already chosen the name, which I really like, and I'll have more details shortly.

Probably because messing with a lawyer is just begging for Trouble.  With a capital T.  And that rhymes with P....

FYI:

The Rosemary Clooney Palladium is proud to present "The 4 Girls Phenomenon" written by Rosemary's friend, and long-time fan, Matt Connor. 4 Girls 4 was a critical part of Rosemary's career and "comeback" which makes this feature a very welcome addition to the website. Through countless hours of interviews and research, Matt has woven together the details of the act with the funny stories of its principal players and observers. On the following pages readers will get a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes activity of a Phenomenon, while glimpsing some never-before-seen photos. ENJOY!!

DR Panni,

Ask me how do I feel, now that we're cosy and clinging
Well sir, all I can say is if I were a bell I'd be ringing!
From the moment we kissed goodnight
That's the way I just gotta behave,
And if I were lamp I'd light
Or if I were a banner I'd wave.

Ask me how do I feel, little me with the quiet upbringing
Well sir, all I can say is if I were a gate I'd be swinging,
And if I were a watch I'd stop popping my spring
Oh and if I were a bell I'd go ding dong ding dong ding.

Ask me how do I feel from this chemistry lesson I'm learning
Well sir, all I can say is if I were a bridge I'd be burning!
Well, I knew my morale would crack
From the wonderful way you looked
Boy if I were a duck I'd quack,
Or if I were a goose I'd be cooked.

Ask me how do I feel
Ask me now that we're fondly caressing
Pal, if I were a salad, I know I'd be splashing my dressing
Ask me how to describe this whole beautiful thing,
Well if I were a bell I'd go ding, dong, ding, dong, ding!
