The lacecap is on the right, and on the left are grandifloras, their best year yet, thanks to the flood!

Thank you, Laura! I wish I could have gotten a better picture of the butterfly. I was thinking: "What would Laura do"?

Meet the newest member of my family.....Little Ricky!!

Welcome Little Ricky!

Thanks MBarnum.  I say go ahead and get a friend for Freddy. If you want an easier introduction, get a kitten.  They aren't a threat and are often accepted easier than an older cat.   Edi's right, it isn't more often just more

I just cut Ricky's claws. He has the biggest paws I've ever seen....good grief...he's going to be a big cat

Wow---that's amazing that he's already letting you cut his claws! Around here, that's a two person job!

He's really a mellow affectionate guy.  I think it helps that he just got to the shelter yesterday.  I think he had a lot of love and wasn't there long enough to get too traumatized

I took a real Claritin instead of the store brand I've been taking.  I think it's working better

BK, one word:  Pallets!  The storage facility should provide pallets to stack your boxes on so that if any water does get in, your stuff won't be on the floor.

I hope in throwing stuff away you were very careful not to throw out anything that might have had your social security number or other vitally personal info on it.  In the olden days before identity theft, banks and contracts and other official documents were rather cavalier about posting one's ss # everywhere.  Docs like those should be shredded.

My siblings and I have been going through documents of my parents and you would be amazed how often sensitive information turns up.

PIZZA:  The more meat and cheese the better.

Yes, they don't have a big ball of petals, so the center looks like a lacy cap...very delicate!

This little guy is SOOO playful.  I'm so glad I brought him home. He's having a ball with toys that have been long abandoned by the other two.  I'm getting a kick out of it

But OY!  I don't know what they fed him at the shelter, but he has totally stunk up this room.   I must remedy that before I go to bed.

Thanks to all who rescued this posting day from the doldrums.  I found something so interesting - when I attended the second reading of Wicked, and its first time in front of people, Stephen Schwartz asked me to write my thoughts.  I found what I wrote him.  After he read them, he called and said that he didn't disagree with any of them.  As I read them, I was pretty amazed to see that everything I talked about was adjusted or changed or fixed.  Fascinating.

Aww, poor Little Ricky. I hope his tummy feels better soon.

In my experience, kittens always react to a change in their food. Hopefully he will get used to the new food quickly.

Back from seeing the new Adam Bock (best known, I think, for THE RECEPTIONIST) musical at  Yale Rep, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE.  (Bill Parry was in it, so i got to have a snack with him afterwards.)  A thrilling show, I thought, one gasp-inducing surprise after another - I'm very glad I didn't read the source material, as I think knowing from the start who ultimately done it makes a difference for some people.

Yes, lots of changes for little Ricky...hope he'll adjust soon! The other kitties might like him better if he's not so smelly, too!    ;)

LOL, Oh he's happy as a lark, running around playing toys pouncing on my hand.  What a great cat.   I'm amazed at how fast he's adjusted to being here.  I think he'll be fine...now I just need to mellow the girls out.

I didn't cut much off his claws earlier. I need to do more tomorrow, he just scratched me really good, he was just playing pounce on the hand, so it wasn't mean or anything

I don't have a good picture of the now-green pavillion but you can see some of it over the shoulder of my DH. Here he is with my little French boy, a few days ago.
