Now, JMK, I think you know I wasn't talking about you or your review.  I wasn't even talking about reviewers much, just the general know-it-alls.  And the begrudging remark was directed toward one reviewer on a big site.  I know you went out of your way to take the position you did and got heat from people who hadn't even seen the disc.

I'm up.  Very cold in the home environment this morning, so I've turned on the heat for a little while.

As I understand it, this book is part one of a two volume set.  I don't see the next one available yet on Amazon.  I wonder if the title will be ...AND THEN I WROTE ROAD SHOW...

I think it's due date is Oct 2011.

DR JMK, did you order GUMNAAM? You won't ever regret spending the $5.99!

My favorite number, after the "Bride of Zorro" opening, is the beach blanket number, "Can a chubby little boy like me fall in love with those piano legs of yours?"

I am home from MTI and clearly on a frenzy. The orchestra parts hadn't arrived for my perusal, so I corrected an error in the harp part that I found in the full score, went to the post office, the market and now I am home for the remainder of the day. I've got some notes to type up.

I continue to be amazed by what I read about this Back To The Future comment.  I keep hearing stuff about all the "edge halos" - I guess I must just not be sophisticated enough to see them.  Or, they're not there and people are seeing what they've been told to see, want to see, or are blaming thing inherent in the photography as other things.  I honestly don't know.  One person says the transfer doesn't look like today's film standards - could that be because the film wasn't made - today?  The same person said that it looked better in the cinema when he saw this transfer a couple of weeks ago - I'm quite certain they were showing this transfer, so why would that be?  Perhaps because of this fellow's home theater system?

One reviewer actually says that the coat Marty wears when playing Johnny B. Goode at the prom has problems with what is now called moire patterns - then he immediately admits that that could be a problem with his TV - it is.  There are no problems with the coat and that, in fact, surprised me, since several blu-ray transfers still seem to be plagued by that sort of thing.

Yesterday, I spent about 15 hours driving to the set and working as an extra on "Bernie." It was the first time I've ever been paid to go to church.

We spent all day filming four scenes in the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, which is in a tiny town about 95 minutes from San Antonio.

During the four scenes, we saw a funeral, then we saw Jack Black sing three hymns. During the last one, the audience got to sing "Blessed Assurance" along with Mr. Black while Shirley MacLaine made evil eyes at someone across the aisle.

Don't know if I made it into any scenes or not, but for one I was two rows behind MacLaine, during a funeral, while Black sang "Just As I Am."

During the last scene, she was in the next pew over. Really charming and spent time talking with some of the children who were extras. She was also funny in her way, while Black was funny in his.

The extra who was playing Shirley MacLaine's son in the film introduced himself to her as Fran Kublick's oldest son. Then he had to explain who Fran Kublick was, which prompted her to say, "That movie's so old. Good, but old."

She also had some fun bits between takes when she was reading on her Kindle about marijuana sales in California. She and Jack Black did a few riffs back and forth on that.

I saw the first. I sort of enjoyed it, to lift a line from a Sondheim song.

DR JRand, I am glad you enjoyed MURDER IN THE BLUE ROOM! One of my favorite films from my childhood, it used to show up on Chiller Diller Matinee quite frequently.

I sure do wish that Universal would get around to releasing their 1940s musicals (and musical mysteries...those that I have seen are so much fun!
