And now, I'm leaving work.  I've been here long enough.

Be back later.

Roger Ebert is the guest programmer tonight on TCM....and I haven't seen him since his operation or surgery.....it is very shocking and sad to see - and I can't really figure out what is going on.....his face seems to be gone, he uses an electronic voice box of some kind.

Just very disturbing to see.

With all the running up and down stairs, doing laundry and vacuuming it appears I'm losing weight.  At least my jeans are fitting better and I'm washing and drying them on high heat!

Richard and I are back from our date - Izzy's for beef barley soup and half a lean corned beef sandwich, then a lecture at Miami-Hamilton.

DR Vixmom - great news about your Mom and about the parsonages!

Yesterday, I spent about 15 hours driving to the set and working as an extra on "Bernie." It was the first time I've ever been paid to go to church.

We spent all day filming four scenes in the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, which is in a tiny town about 95 minutes from San Antonio.

During the four scenes, we saw a funeral, then we saw Jack Black sing three hymns. During the last one, the audience got to sing "Blessed Assurance" along with Mr. Black while Shirley MacLaine made evil eyes at someone across the aisle.

Don't know if I made it into any scenes or not, but for one I was two rows behind MacLaine, during a funeral, while Black sang "Just As I Am."

During the last scene, she was in the next pew over. Really charming and spent time talking with some of the children who were extras. She was also funny in her way, while Black was funny in his.

I thought this was supposed to be Shirley MacLaine's funeral?

I thought it was, too. Turns out to be her husband's and it is at the funeral that she meets Jack Black's character.

Well, my best friend has just been offered the role of Ben in the Kennedy Center production of FOLLIES, I just learned five minutes ago.

Wonderful news.

I was reading thru all of last evenings posts, and I kept reading about acceptance vibes for John G.  For a while, I thought he had come out of the closet, rather than applied to grad school.

I spent another $89 at the gift shop - but I finished my Christmas shopping.

Great photos -- and I'm envious of the Christmas shopping. Authentic lumps of coal from the Titanic's furnace?

Odd day. Haven't caught with anything (except for the readings here), and I kind of like not caring about how far behind I am.

Had a lousy dinner at a new restaurant. Burger was pre-formed, probably once frozen patty with next to no flavor. The cream of asparagus soup was made from canned asparagus. And I like ordering cole slaw because it's usually lower carb than most items, but this version made up for that by adding corn (!) to the mix.

Good Evening!

I'm up, I'm up... And when I came home last night, two Con Ed trucks were parked outside my apartment building. Well... Apparently, something shorted out in the building next door, so, to be safe, they rerouted our power lines. Again. :-\

Thanks, JRand.  I know I will.  I have a 24-inch monitor at home. :) Here's the picture of my new work monitor...until I move into my new cubicle:

Might not be around too much.  Making progress on paying for my car repairs.  Sold the IMAC and working on having the old IBM laptop fixed.  Until then it's internet at the local library down the street.   Might have to cancel the internet at home (and the phone) and just stick to a cell phone and wireless internet if the old IBM can get access.  Yea for the computers at the library (which might be more fun anyway).        I seriously need to pay down my credit cards.  Or I'm really going to be in trouble next year.

I think I know from FJL's description who won the Ebb award.  And I think I know from elmore's description who has been offered the role of Ben.

Finished with my viewing a couple of hours ago, did a mile and a half jog and my calf seemed to be fine and then wrote my liner notes, which are now thankfully finished.

I'm going to shave now so I don't have to in the morning - CDs and helper arrive very early and then I have a noon lunch so it's going to be very hectic.
