Well, you've read the notes, the notes dropped some names, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently dropping something and it isn't names.

tod

Adapted
The Sound Of Music  which was the the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th film I saw as a child. twice durig the roadshow engagement. It played at my beloved Seville Theater which the owner of the property let the theater fall apart due to neglect. One time i believe was in Cape Cod where the tale end of a hurricane was raining so badly that the streets were flooded when we came out of the theater.

Since the TSOM countless time and most recently two weeks at the hi-def presentstion.

Now the original.

Does "All That Jazz" count the score wasn't original.
An original I have to think about it.

And for the first time I actually know what the definition is.
And who said 50's television can't teach you anything?

BTW 50's tv were repeats in the 60's for me

Tuesday morning greetings!  I'm up early to get ready for my second-to-last grantwriters meeting as a board member.  Next year, I'll just be a chapter member and won't have responsibility for each month's program - whew!  On my way to Dayton I have to vote, pick up some library books, and pick up another board member whose car is in for repairs.  She's the one who followed the ambulance 13 weeks ago today and stayed with me in ER until Richard got there.  The least I can do is give her a ride.

DR Cillaliz, I've never had a cat before and I still don't find 3 cats a lot.  I would think that many people that have cats would have at least 2. So one more does not seem like a lot at all.

Good morning, all! I've cancelled all my appointments today except for the doctor at 3:30; I stood up this morning at 6am when the alarm went off and decided that being up and about all day wasn't a good idea and went back to bed for another hour. Since then, I've been taking care of emails and rescheduling my week. I'm sure the keg is healing nicely but I'd like to have the doctor's opinion over my own. While I am out, I will vote around 2:30 and then head to the doctor.

Speaking of the doctor, I got my official health insurance letter yesterday confirming my insurance is going up $110/month next year to $10,320 a year. Another reason to want a lot of people dead.

So, my day will be one of typing Victor Herbert lyrics, staying off my feet as much as possible and waiting for 2:30.

TOD:
Screen original: SINGING IN THE RAIN (almost ties with SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS)
Stage & Screen: THE MUSIC MAN

My two least favorite film adaptations of a stage show are THE SOUND OF MUSIC, which for me is about fifty-fifty, and the Keel-Grayson SHOW BOAT, which suffers from hyper-inflation and misses the point of the novel and the show.

Fed Ex has confirmed that my 9 cartons are on a truck heading from Dayton to Miami University, total weight 280 lbs. That's one more worry off my back today.

My sister took me to see Scrooge, too.

We bought the DVD to watch the year I was with her for her surgery.

We saw SWEET CHARITY in what had been the CINERAMA theater in SLC.  We had gone back there to visit friends over the summer (1969?) and my middle sister, who still lived there.  I was so blown away by the dance sequences, I will never forget it.  (Much the same way as I was when I saw my first Broadway show "on Broadway", PIPPIN, a few years later).

As I've told ad nauseum here, we saw SCROOGE at one of the downtown Seattle theaters.  My eldest sister had come home from Spokane for the holidays and took me.  We came out after the movie to one of the "best" snowstorms in my childhood memories--all of downtown Seattle was blanketed under several inches of freshly fallen snow.  It was really, really magical.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Original - "Singing in the Rain"

Adapted - "The Music Man"

And for very sentimental reasons, I'd have to add "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" and "Flower Drum Song".
