Although it's way too late, and it really doesn't matter - except that it will breed misinformation - The Sherman Bros Cd The Sherman Brothers Songbook - states in its booklet that the Bros wrote the Wonderful World of Color for the show when it moved TO ABC.......

I didn't much care for it when it first came out, but I've grown to like THE POLAR EXPRESS movie.  Though why I am watching this commercial-plagued showing of it on ABC Family, I have no idea.  And it reminds me that I have yet to watch the Zemeckis A CHRISTMAS CAROL DVD...

LOL I have no idea.

Lastest rumor buzzing around the office today: The Governor and the Legislature may offer state employees a 2.5% cut in pay.

Oh, goodie. :P

That is the problem with rumors - they often come true.  A friend of mine who works near Olympia (our state capitol) just sent me an e-mail to let me know that the pay cut is already a done-deal.

Yesterday, I said that I'd have a report on our opening night, but some of us went out after the show and I didn't get home until about 1:30 a.m.  I didn't even turn on my computer...I just went to bed.

So, last night's opening night of "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol" was a success!  There were still a couple of light issues (I only comment on them because I'm involved with the lights), but they were minor and we fixed them after the show.  The actors were all quite good...no one forgot any lines (although a couple weren't exactly as written ;)) and the audience really responded positively to the show.  I think that it's a great show and it'll do quite well in the rest of the run.

Well, if rumors have a way of coming true, how about starting one that state employees are getting a 7% raise?

TCB - Lost Horizon is out on CD - not sure if it's in print - it was mastered from an LP in the days when they didn't do that so well.

For the past few days, I've been obsessed by this video:

Prisencolinensinainciusol -- Adriano Celentano
I love the version with English subtitles.

Good to hear things went well, George. I'm sure no one in the audience noticed the minor miscues.

We had a lovely time seeing Amahl tonight and it turns out that we knew all of the kings (2 of them well and Richard has sung with the third).  Now we're biting our nails watching Miami trying to hang onto a 5 point lead in the MAC championship game.  Only 10 seconds to go!

Haven't seen "Amahl" in a few years. That sounds like fun.

Watching "My Favorite Wife" with Irene Dunne and that notorious duo, Cary Grant and Randolph Scott.

"Amahl" was quite well-done - no weak voices, excellent dual pianists (one of them was the church organist who played for our wedding 30 years ago), decent costumes and set.  They had a few mic problems, but that seemed to be the only thing not up to par.  The dessert theater concept was festive - assorted desserts and beverages served beforehand.  There was also a Christmas carol sing-along beforehand, led by the director, a retired vocal music teacher who's a real Pied Piper, especially with kids (Nina, DR Elmore).

So, I'm at the part in "My Favorite Wife" in which Cary has fantasies about Randolph Scott in a swim suit doing gymnastics.
