I never made the association between minstrel shows and the Mandy number in WHITE CHRISTMAS when I watched it as a youngen.  I always thought it was some kind of weird Christmas number (because of all the red and green in the costumes and scenery.) What did I know?...

For those DRs who like to read lips:

Fourteen Actors Acting - A Video Gallery of Classic Screen Types

-It's actually a cool feature. *And I really would love to see the transcript of what Matt Damon is saying.  :o

Well, part of it was definitely "I will f***ing punch you in the face."  Don't ask me how I know that.  ;)

The stockings are hung by the chimney with care and the mantle is lined with bubble lights.  I think Rob will set up the Christmas tree tomorrow while I'm having my eyes examined.

DR elmore - A friend of mine just got hired as a coach at The Met. I'd sure he'd be interested in some of the scores you have for sale.

elmore, it's a little different - two songs as opposed to hundreds - one done as a favor to Susan so we could put out an album of all her tracks she'd done for me over the years, and one done as a hidden track for Michelle.  That's not quite the same as doing an entire solo album for a specific singer in which she's singing to tracks that were orchestrated and arranged for another singer - that's what I find off-putting and really weird.

BK, I agree with you! I just wasn't going to let you get away with it. I went back and added a smiley because I wasn't posting it to be mean. As I said, I really prefer Susan Egan to Tammy on "Josua Noveck" and I knew you wanted a chance to remix "Disneyland" after the Day The Board Crashed. It's a hard choice between Jodi and Michelle; I liked them both.

Caroline O'Connor and Ron Raines paid me for those charts of "My Man," "Kissing You," and "I Don't remember You," and I honestly don't think Mr Yap had any right to reuse his blank orchestra tracks simply because their albums are on his label.

But that's what he does, over and over again.  So, you buy a Glory Crampton CD and you've, in essence, already heard all the tracks, you just have a new singer.  It's disgusting and, as I said, I'm surprised any singer is so hungry to do one that they leap at that.  Especially as, at least from what I understand, they are guaranteeing to purchase enough CDs themselves to cover all Mr. Yap's costs.

I got home and decided to google someone who volunteers for us, a dear man named  "Ruby Rims". He's been around since the 70s and he's sweet and kind and extremely helpful in our work.

Well, I came across a photo shoot posted on BroadwayWorld.com and there are lots and lots of pictures of people posted here, including someone we all know and love. She just posted today, in fact. She's very busy and doesn't post as often as we want her to, but she's a glamorous and lovely person and I love seeing these pictures of our own Miss Julie at the MAC Awards in May of this year.

MAC Awards May 2010

Oh Yeah for Marilyn Maye!! I love her.  She summers at Okoboji.   She wrote a great song about being stranded in the snow in my home town Estherville.  She also worked on saving Arnolds Park, an old amusement park at the lakes.  She was fabulous and showed up at every event to lend a hand and sing a song

Hmmm found this in a review of her from February, not sure if that was in New York or somewhere else

Quote
She sang her own parody, "Estherville," a sideways tribute to the winter landscape of the northwest Iowa town near one of her favorite venues, Lake Okoboji.

Were you on hold for an hour? or actually talking to a customer service rep?

I'm heading home...finally.  I should've left a while ago, but I got sort of busy and didn't.  Now, I get to leave early on Friday or take a long lunch tomorrow, which is probably what I'll do.

Until later!

I spoke to three different people.  I'm trying to get text messaging to work in the house.  I also needed to know how to call for voice messages from the land line.  Craig missed an important call today regarding a job possibility.  Now he has to wait until tomorrow to call them back.

Maybe I best just stick to vintage greeting cards that have cats and dogs on them.
I love all of the vintage cards, even if some of them are politically incorrect by today's standards.

Now I'm watching a DVD of Christmas episodes of The Bell Telephone Hour.  A bit on the dry side, but the music selections are interesting and the performances are pleasing.  And I get a kick from watching this kind of live TV that was done in the 50's and 60's.  Well, sort of live--I gather that the Bell Telephone Hour presentations were mostly taped for broadcast.  But still, the segments look like they were done continuously with no stops and occasional intercutting between cameras.  I would have loved to been around that studio when one of these shows were taped.

The phone book that just came out has the wrong suite number for my office in my yellowbook ad.  I'm really ticked about it.  I was able to negotiate a 15% reduction in the price of the ad, but it's really irritating.  They did get the building right, and we can tell people who make appointments the correct suite number, but it's still irritating.
