Back from the barber, I need to make a trip to the market for some foodstuffs. And eggnog. And the liquor store!

And it was nice to wake up to The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College Cambridge. -Which seems to have become a Christmas Eve tradition for me over the past couple of years.

BK, I agree with your sentiments (and possibly sediments) from last night's final post and today's notes.  I truly wish tha those special friends would return to the site, even if only for Christmas.  If the Germans and the Allies could put down their weapons and dance together on the battlefield in the middle of WWI; surely (Shirley) those who have left us could return.

Aren't they those little oranges that you can only find at Christmas?

Lesson learned:

When you have Christmas Eve off of work, always remember to turn off the 4:00 a.m. alarm before retiring for the night.

I've been out and about: egg nog, bourbon, cointreau are nestled in their proper places. I stopped at Barnes & Noble to see my friends, especially Val and Patty, and to drop off a bag of candy to keep the spirits up; B&N on Christmas Eve can be a zoo.

I will have some lunch and wrap gifts for Ron, Dona amd Charlotte for tomorrow. Do I need a nap?

I hope this day off was a Christmas gift for employees and not part of your cutbacks.

I have been enjoying a delicious hot chocolate/rum concoction at this new bar/restaurant gig I have two nights a week.  Does that make me an alchy?  :)

Just found a real curio in my review stack (I tend not to look at titles when they come in, just add them to the pile, LOL).  I have some archival Karajan-Menuhin stuff directed by (are you ready?)  Henri-Georges Clouzot!!!  I am assuming one of the cellists turns out to be the murderer.  ;)

Speaking of days off, where is Mikey? Did he actually go into the judicial dept today or is he making rounds of various and sundry penal institutions or retirement homes spreading holiday cheer?

And speaking of alcohol...

I'm dropping by some friends later who use Martha Stewart's Eggnog recipe... And even though it doesn't need it, they kind of "double" it. Needless to say, it's usually a good thing to have a hearty and starchy meal beforehand.

And since I've been hibernating in my room this morning listening to the broadcasts from England...

And since I can hear my parents getting ready for tonight's events...

Laters...

I'm awake.  Party in SF was boring, so we came home early.  Too many people in a small space.  I spent part of the evening sitting on the floor.  Today, Christmas Eve, I need to do some things for Mass tonight (3 Mass's in fact) and hit the grocery store for a minute, then head over to church. (about 1:00pm I guess).  Tomorrow, (I still don't know how this happened) I have the day off!!!  My best friend and fellow pianist will play at church for me.  First time in years that I will have Christmas Day off.  Next year I promised that she could have the day off!  It will be nice to linger at home in the morning before heading to my mom's for brunch.

So, I just got back from Blockbuster, where I rented:

CYRUS
SALT
MOTHER AND CHILD

That should keep us occupied for the weekend.

I hope you get some more sleep, Jane.

Thank you.  I dosed in and out and stayed in bed with my eyes closed until about 20 minutes ago.  I'm still groggy & sleepy and still fighting, or masking, a cold with Benadryl.

Morning Jane.

I did go back to bed around 5am and I slept until a while ago. I'm now having some breakfast.

I'm feeling good. I'm glad we made the decision to go to Long Island.

5 and 4 aren't on my list! I'd add THE REF and one of the versions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Alistair Sim, George C Scott, or Patrick Stewart. I love CHRISTMAS STORY!
