Good morning, all! Round Two of the final Victor Herbert recording sessions is today, with three singers, Ron Raines, Jeanne Lehman, whose doing half of her material today, and Marnie Breckenridge, who finishes up her round of recordings. Ron is recording three posthumous songs, one of them unpublished and based on the Cuban Serenade from Herbert's 1924 "Suite of Serenades," which was premiered by Paul Whiteman in his famous Aeolian Hall concert that also premiered Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue."
Yesterday went really well. Marnie and Jonathan sounded great, and everything went down to tape quickly. I'm hoping this good vibe continues all week. I spent too much time at the studio yesterday coughing and wheezing, so I got up earlier in hopes that taking the meds early would make my life at the sessions easier for everyone.
