The temperature has dropped five degrees in the past hour. Ugh.

Vibes for all those who haven't been able to cancel their travel plans.

DR TCB, yesterday I was at 70%. So not really in need of too many health vibes. Just a tiny bit under the weather. But pretty good!

DR Jane re: the swimming lanes. There is slow, medium and fast. Truthfully some of the people in the slow lane can barely swim. So i sort of understand why some people who can actually swim go in the medium lane. They are probably a tiny bit better than the people in the slow lane.

My real complaint is that they don't show any conern for those around them. For instance when I swim in the fast lane (i usually have to or go insane) I always make sure i go behind the fast people. I don't want to slow them down.

But these slow swimmers in the medium lane. They are completely unaware of those around them. For instance, yesterday I was waiting to swim because the person in front of me was too slow (so i had to wait till they were 3/4 of the way across). And this slow swimmer just goes ahead of me without stopping to ask if it was okay.  Umm if i'm waiting for a few seconds for the person ahead do i then really want to go behind this even slower person?

Protocol is that you wait your turn. And if you want to go ahead you ask.

I've been to the post office and back in one piece. The streets are slick, a bit icy, and the sky's very very gray with no brightness at all. I just spoke to Mr Skip Kennon and we ar not meeting today. It's fine with me and I may run down to the NYPL for some research.

It is my personal opinion that beets should be outlawed.

It is very windy and very cold here in PDX.  The wind actually woke me up several times last night.

As DR Elmore suggests, I would most certainly buy a Linda Purl / Greg Harrison CD. I like both performers very much, and Greg is an Oregonian, so that makes it even more special.

Linda will be performing in  Salem, Oregon, USA later this year and I hope to attend.

Gotta love those brussels sprouts. Especially with some bacon.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I do love me some Vegetable Tempura and/or Fritto Misto - Nothing like deep-fried vegetables!

Otherwise...

The Farro with Pumpkin side-dish at Becco always makes me happy.
The Roasted Vegetable Salad at George's Garage in Durham, NC. Carrots, fennel, Brussels sprouts, red peppers, shallots, radicchio.

And since the potato is a vegetable, well...

Baked, fried, boiled, gratin'd, Anna'd, mashed, whipped, griddled, etc., etc., etc... ;)

A police officer was killed in the line of duty in Indianapolis last month - by a man who should never have been let out of jail - although he claims he didn't do it.

Today, the officer's funeral is being televised.  It is very sad.
