HAVE I STAYED TOO LONG AT THE FAIR

Well, you've read the notes, the notes stayed too long at the fair, and now it is time for you to post until the fair cows come home.

Good morning, all! I've put the laundry into the washers and I'm on my first cup of coffee. I really want to go back to bed for another couple of hours, but I am up and I am moving. Slowly.

I have little planned today: laundry, mopping, and tidying are the housekeeping chores; I have to finish typing my NYPL notes from Friday; and I've got some recording information from 2001 to get into order. I just got the American film remake of the Swedish film LET THE RIGHT ONE IN that I may watch this afternoon, and that's my big day.

DR Ben will be amused to know that I've got the Chad Mitchell Trio's "Barry's Boys" running through my mind.

I envy you the Cole Porter book, BK. The whole book fair sounds like it was fun.

I played pinochle last night for the first time in months. Then went off to a place called the Hangin' Tree Saloon for a few hours of country music (and too much smoke). The music was provided by James Hand, a cowboy singer with a vibrato perfect for yodeling. He managed to stay sober through all three sets, which is quite a feat for him. The last time he was at this bar, he was so drunk he fell into the drum set.

Congrats to MR BK on his book purchases.

Unless I find a special book at Goodwill - I can't afford it.

I did get a First Edition copy of ATLAS SHRUGGED at Half Price Books many years ago for $50....and I had a 15% off coupon so I got it for $35.  Dust jacket is okay, but it is price clipped....and former library copy with a couple of stamps.....but it is a genuine first/first.

I think I will watch Mr PDQ Bach's opera - The Abduction of Figaro - which always makes me laugh.

I woke up thinking about Inception.  Now that's strange....I do think I need to see it again to see if I followed all the layers the way I think I did. Does anyone know if there is a second disk with commentary? The one that came from Netflix had no specials on it.

Whoa!  More coffee TCB. I was quite stunned to read that John G. said that he had played Pinocchio!

Ah makes more sense the second time.  Even I haven't played Pinocchio.  He would have to be carved from a Califonia Redwood, or at least, a giant sequoia.

I had strange dreams last night, as well; but obviously boring, because I don't remember any of them.

All That Chat had better get it together - they've already lost a considerable number of posters there and they will never ever recover if they keep doing this.

Speaking of redwoods, I am glad to see that the Trees of Mystery is still open in Northern California, along with Paul and Babe.

Then HHW will be the most popular site on the Internet!

I remember back in the 60's, our family stopped at the Trees of Mystery on our way south  to Disneyland.  I remember that my mother was outraged when we got back to our car, because while we were touring the area, the staff had wired a T of M bumpersticker to our car.
