HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were where the heart is, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - their collective hearts are at home and they've been walking around heartless for long enough.

I think I may have resolved my problem at the office.  I may be looking at it from the wrong perspective.  I think I need more help, not less...I'm thinking maybe hiring someone part time in addition to Edith.

Good morning, all! Last night I dreamed I was in grad school writing my thesus, only it wasn't 40 years ago but now, I was writing something political, not about theatre, and several of my Barnes & Noble friends were in the dream. Oy!

Today is another Encores! day. Yesterday, joshie and I worked through the entire "Pernambuco" ballet which took us four hours, and I have a few fixes to do this morning. After that I ran to an audition to hear Kasey Marino sing. I'm looking for young performers who can do music from 1900 to 1940 with legit voices; I don't want "American Yodeling," I don't want big band crooning. I want good  "Broadway" singers who can give me a legit sound. Most operatic baritones sing with a covered sound. I want a good young legit Broadway baritone like John Raitt or John Reardon. My goal is to find several young sopranos, belters, tenors, and baritones for this project begun with the Herbert songs. Ideally, my goal is to find the new generation of Rebecca Luker, Judy Kaye, Jeanne Lehman, Kim Criswell, George Dvorsky, Brent Barrett, Hugh Panaro, David James Carroll. I love them all but they will not stay young forever except in my mind.

Today, I'm at Encores! I've got some "Pernambuco" fixes in the reeds for the last 10 or so measures. Then Joshie and I will start at the beginning of the sshow and see how far we get today. After that, I will head back here and chill out.

TOD:
DVD: the Netflix discs sit here and I want to watch the "Dark Shadow" films from DR JRand60
CD: several bootlegs, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway
    VCR: same old smut

Seems that a lot of folk decided to take today off--the Quiet Car on the train ride in wasn't only quiet, it was deadly quiet.  I had to turn around occaisionally to check to see if there were other passengers--I was beginning to feel that I was on the train to...the other side.

My office is half empty, too, and will most probably be even emptier on Monday.  I rather save my days off for truly nice days in the spring or summer.

Friday morning greetings!  Today I'm going to let my cousin totally look after his mother, because yesterday was quite stressful.  Her condition continues to deteriorate and she's very uncooperative.  Without going into too much detail, I can tell you that he may be in Ohio longer than he'd planned.

My Mother and I thoroughly enjoyed RISE and recommend it to all figure skating fans.  They announced that there will be an encore showing on March 7 - http://www.fathomevents.com/sports/event/riseencore.aspx - and the DVD will be on sale sometime in the spring.

Add me to the list of those who couldn't sleep. I tried reading "Five Minds for the Future," but that couldn't knock me out.

Thanks for the vibes, DRs Laura and John G.  On the bright side, we are delighted to have my cousin and his 7-year-old son staying with us.
