Up from a nap. Now it's time to work. I think I'd prefer a longer nap.

I am home after a long day of running about. I'm fighting my urge to try to nap because I think I will head for bed around 9 tonight to be up by 5am tomorrow morning.

And we just passed Gary, IN, so we should be arriving in Chicago in about 30 minutes, just 20-ish minutes late.

If you are at the train station there is a wonderful bakery amongst the shops.  It is the second location for the bakery Bryan got his wedding desserts from, all of which came from the entremets menu.  The were so incredibly delicious I had to make a trip to the bakery last time I was in Chicago.  My favorite was a chocolate cake I can't recall the name of.  Fortunately Bryan & Kate told me what to get before I went there.

I found this story of a boy who was bullied very touching & what happened after he didn't take it anymore.  It is somewhat long but worth watching. :)

Picker uppers have been and gone, I had some matzo brei, picked up two packages,  and am pretty much done for the day.  And that's a good thing.  Haven't heard from Juliana so maybe that's off, and that would be fine by me.

I enjoyed this story, but I wonder what the school is doing about it. It suspended both kids, but what happens next?

I read a couple of stories online about the bully and the backlash. It seems the bully's mother is whining because her son has been misunderstood. And it seems the father of Casey, the kid who showed way too much tolerance before fighting back, will not let his son go back to the same school.

The story is far from over, but the world seems to be solidly in Casey's corner.

The video shows Casey getting punched several times before reacting, and Australian school officials are saying he should have never reacted. Yet school officials also don't say how someone who is alone and taunted by a group should react after getting punched in the face a few times. I think the media attention is likely to make the school behave more reprehensibly than ever because its neglect of bullying has been exposed.

Just a quick HI between my day with my Mom and my evening with my book group.  Mom and I got a lot done today and I also peeked in on my aunt.  She's now in a skilled nursing part of the retirement community and her son will be here this weekend to disperse most of the furnishings and belongings from her house.

Thanks for the additional info.  I find it shocking the boy was suspended when the video proves he had no other choice, plus he walked away after defending himself.  I hope he can go to another school & make friends.

Bryan got attacked & did not defend himself.  The boys were lucky as Bryan knew karate.  Nothing happened to the other boys and the school never called me.  Fortunately friends called, having heard from their children who got home before Bryan did.  I was furious.

DR Laura I'm sure you were not happy.

Oh, and I told the principle I gave Bryan permission to use his karate next time.  The principle looked shocked.

Hard to believe, but the IMHO disgusting creeps Ann and Mike of All that Chat supported my "cyber-bullies/cyber-stalkers" by suspending me from their chat board for 30 days when I just tried to discuss the theater-writing-related  aspects of  the cyber-stalking and cyber-bullying issue.

"TBAdmin" describes them perfectly.  The two of them are IMHO emblematic of a diseased administrative mind

I was harassed plenty in grade school and high school. Only physically bullied once (punched in the chest) and it was in front of the class but not the teacher. I did not strike back but I was also not defended by anyone else in the class. It was toward the end of the eighth grade and I knew I was going to another school in the fall.

I guess that's why these stories rankle so much.
