I will respect their wishes. It makes me sad, but it's not about me.

My sister insisted my father's funeral was family only, even excluding my parents oldest living friends, and then invited a few of her friends my brother & I didn't even know.  She knew the friends of ours that would have gone.

Welcome home, Jane.

Thanks you.  I'm tired and really need to unpack some.

Craig made delicious cabbage rolls last night and had plenty of extras for our dinner tonight and tomorrow night. :D

I will not be reading the posts while I was traveling.  What happened while I was gone?

DR Jane, just reading your story about the freezer pack. OMG, I would have been livid. I hope you said something to them!

We were not happy and I plan to complain on trip advisor.  I may also send an email to the Hilton corporation.

Shall I tweet them on Twitter for you? -It's kind of amazing how fast some of the companies respond via Twitter now. ;)

;D  Feel free to.  I won't be twitting.  Yesterday we heard on the news about the special hotel & flight deals you can get with Twitter.

I did, indeed, have a short nap and woke up in time to meet Anita, who had been scoping out our dinner options.  We drove to the other end of downtown to the Spaghetti Warehouse, which is in the original 1869 B. F Goodrich factory building.  Got back here just in time for a fire alarm and then to attend the pre-conference book discussion of Nicholas Kristof's Half the Sky.

This hotel used to be a Crowne Plaza, but has been bought by the adjacent University of Akron.  The first 3 floors are still hotel space, but the other 5 floors are student housing.  It's very weird to see the mix in the elevators of college students and middle aged/elderly women.

I'm tired of all the melodrama over shutting down the government.  Whatever the issues or who is to blame.  It's not going to be for any length if time if it does happen, social security and medicare don't stop, federal employees who don't work get paid for the time later, so they get some vacation that will be paid later. etc.  It's just not that big of an impact.  Sure if it was for weeks or months it would be a major impact, but a few days won't be.   Heck, no one seems concerned that lawyers in our state who do indigent defense haven't been paid since January or February, and they are dealing with it.

I think they all just want attention and to grand stand on one side or the other...perhaps if we all just quit paying attention they'd quit acting like little children.

We've tried that with Mr. Speaker here in his home district for YEARS and it hasn't worked yet...

I was supposed to run home, give Callie her meds and go back downtown to meet a group for dinner.  I came home....well, that's about as far as I got.  It was a long day, I really wanted to just put my feet up.

Tomorrow is going to be in the upper 70s then possibilities of severe thunderstorms. more of the same on Sunday.  77 and 75...this is after highs in the 50s and 60s. I've got work to do at the office, but need to get out in the yard and do some work too

If Callie didn't need another does of meds before bed, I'd go to sleep right now, but she just had the last dose about 2 hours ago and she needs to wait longer for the next dose.
