I'm glad you are safe, Cillaliz. How frightening!

I'd see about staying right inside the park, JMK. Flagstaff is quite a ways away. There's a town right outside the park gates, too.

Thanks Laura.  They have a new policy to blow the sirens when there is a severe thunderstorm with winds predicted over 60 mph. That's what the first warning was, but the tornado warning really shocked me, we don't get that many tornado warnings unless one is on the way

All three cats are curled up sleeping, guess they've gotten over the excitement

I do give kudos to the weathermen on two of our local stations.  They have been broadcasting nonstop since 6:00 PM and it's almost 11:00 PM

I've heard at least 2 towns have been hit hard, only a few minor injuries reported so far.  Double digits in tornadoes and they are still happening.  Crazy night

JMK when I went to the Grand Canyon (30 years ago) I was able to stay inside the park  http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/?gclid=CNKm-K-FkagCFQWD5QodAAh_1A

I still remember getting up before dawn to stand at the rim and watch the sun rise over the canyon

The Maswik Lodge is a short walk to the canyon rim. If you have money, though, check into the Bright Angel or El Tovar.

We don't have storm sirens.

I rely on my weather radio and the tv more than I do on the sirens.  I did find out tonight I can hear them from my house. That's nice to know

I'm hoping that the storms aren't too intense when they get to Decorah.  Would hate to see problems for the eagles

I am glad I waited until tomorrow to go to visit my parents.  With the severity of the storms, I would have been a basket case worrying about the cats and the house if I had stayed up there tonight

Just heard another town had damage, houses leveled and people missing.  Sheesh! That's three towns now

They are done here, but the watches go until 5:00 AM.  I'm listening to a storm chaser on the Weather Channel call it "Epic"

The weather chaser just told about another town that was hit.  Good grief. I hate to even imagine the damage.  It's lightning and thundering on the eagle cam now

well, the cats have all calmed down.  Boo is sleeping on my lap so she's not mad at me anymore.  I need to go to sleep.  I have to leave by 7:00 AM to get to my brother's house for coffee at 9:00

ROPE OF SAND is indeed a lovely film in many ways. Not your usual film noir, but lots of colorful characters. I especially liked Peter Lorre's character.

Congrats to DR JRand on his new Sony Vaio computer.

Does anyone know how to pronounce "Vaio"? Two syllables or three? I am always confused when lots of vowels are stuck together.
