I was just talking about Kay Cole the other day.

Talking about people who stop a show basically with three or four lyric lines thrillingly sung

I did tremendously enjoy SISTER ACT, much to (frankly) my surprise and utter delight, and can't imagine how they did this lavish musical at the Pasadena playhouse.

I so wish I had seen it there to compare.

Beane must really have done wonders with the script of "Sister Act." The reviews in England were tepid, but everything I've read about New York is great. A real sleeper.

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT is a mean-spirtied show, magnanimous only to the leading characters and their families and cruel/nasty about pretty much everyone else - not that there's anything wrong with that, but the hard edge of the show took me very much by surprise.  Not for the sensitive in terms of what offends.  Dead kangaroos, dead kuala bears, if the idea strikes terror in your heart that such things would be the subject of humor - not the show for you.

For SISTER ACT, looks like the original bookwriters are still credited, with Mr. Beane getting credit as well separately.  But don't underestimate Jerry Zaks of course, who i think is new to the show in NY.  And Victoria Clark is magic, magic, magic in a difficult but complex role.

DR Jane re: your question from yesterday.

I had walked in and placed my bag on my chair. I was standing about a foot in front of the chair making sure my niece was okay sitting on the floor.

Boy was that lady rude!!!

I think I will watch THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS on TCM in a half hour or so.

I seem to remember that I really liked Mr Paul Newman and Mr Robert Vaughan in this movie.

The score by Mr. Ernest Gold is rather lovely, too.

Well, you've got plenty of time before next season...season five won't be broadcast until 2010.

Does anyone have a clue what year George is trapped in?

She felt "entitled", apparently....entitled to put her needs over everyone else's.

I see it a lot...

Today is my mother's 84th Birthday.  She started the day with a massage (she calls it her "treatment") and tonight is out for dinner with friends.

Tonight I'm going to PEO.  For the program we're all supposed to bring a photo of our mother's and a story about her. What a cool thing to have fall on my mom's birthday

What was I thinking? ??? I can't believe I made that kind of typo...of course, I meant that to be 2012.

My friends Rodney Gilfry and Caroline O'Connor have the leads in SWEENY TODD in Paris. I wish I could see it.
