Aww, Druxy. She simply moved it to a place where you would see it. Now you have TWO!

At the end of the season last fall, someone gave me a B I G box of makeup supplies - all unopened - I remembered it yesterday when I saw it on the counter.

So today, I am going to go through it and sort it out.  I looked at it briefly last night - lots of stuff....lots of fingernails!  We shall see what we can find tonight!

I think Mayor Shinn should have long lacquered nails like Fu Manchu and an Egyptian base complexion.

Why - I asked myself - not?

DR DRUXY - have you been keeping track of the mileage on your car?  Cats can be very secretive you know.

Good thought.

I'll check that right now.

I'm up late because in the middle of the night I discovered I had one last short paper due for class and an online evaluation of the course. And they were due Friday. So, I wrote and wrote and finished that off. I hope I don't discover another little thing I didn't do.

The lineup for the Strouse show sounds great. "Rags" is a great score, so is "Dance a Little Closer,"even if the productions were not up to snuff.

If you couldn't be an Oscar Meyer Wiener, is there anything else you'd wish to want to be?

I don't know what is in the air recently, but I have been soooooo tired that as soon as I get home from work or the gym, I lay down on the bed and off to sleep I go, waking up several hours later only to get some food stuffs and then go back to bed. Must be allergies, I think.

Sorry to hear about your friend Russell DR ELMORE.  Condolences and thoughts.

I thank everyone for their condolences.

I never think of Russell as one for sentimentality but once: when he was forced through the new owners of his apartment building on 47th Street to give it up and relocate permanently to Seattle, where he'd been living about 6 months a year, I could tell from our conversation on the day he left that he was weeping. This was around late 2008. He had moved everything he could back to Seattle except for his piano, which he gave to me, He kew I'd lost mine during the 2008 bed bug crisis.

It's sitting down at Toyland and I should move it back here.

When I was working on JUBILEE in January-March 1986, Russell helped me survive the stress of a horrid abusive producer who called daily with threats and invective. Because the New Amsterdam Theatre Company and the Porter Trust delayed getting me a contract by around 6 months, I was way behind my estimated completion date, as she constantly reminded me. Russell was at that time living in Manhattan around 90th asnd West End Avenue and using the producer's midtown apartment as a studio when she was out. He was aware from my conversations about her and her tirades about me to him that "Fang" (as he called her) was coming on strong like a bulldozer. Whenever he'd call to check on me and my mental condition, his first words were always "I'm calling from Gadhafi's bunker."

As to Fang, I had to have the Cole Porter attorneys call her and threaten her to leave me in peace to finish the score. I later, around 1990, ran into her at Goodspeed and she treated me like an old friend! She died a horrid death from multiple sclerosis, and Russell visited her regularly till she died.

Larry, you are going to have one hell of a memoir.  And I, for one, can't wait for it!

More precisely, I am sitting in the upper lobby of the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.

And, yes, DR JRand, I am currently in Oklahoma Territory. ;)

Sad Story or I'm Going to Kill My Cat:

About a week ago, I discovered that there was a hole in my pants pocket and, shortly thereafter, I also discovered that the remote access device for my car was missing.

 :(

I retraced all my steps, looked high and low, but could not find it.

 :( :(

So, last Friday, I went up to Honda and bought a new one...for $90.00.

 :'(

Guess what I found last night!

 :o

The damn thing was sitting in plain sight...right atop a blanket where my cat often roosts.

 >:(

I figure that I had dropped it or set it down someplace and, for the last week, Annie (who is now on my s**t list) has been using it as a toy.

 >:( >:(

Can anybody give me the address of a good violin factory?

How about a pie shop?

The bus trip down this morning was relatively uneventful. There was some weird traffic coming out of the Holland Tunnel, and then once we entered DC, we ended up behind two "Wide Load" vehicles which had police escorts. We only got in 15 minutes late, so it wasn't bad at all.

And now I'm hunkering down for a few hours with the archival DVD of Arena's production of Oklahoma!. I wouldn't be surprised if I started sprouting corn stalks from my ears by the time I'm finished proofing the keyboard book... Which was never really written out. So... Fun, Fun, Fun!

Might it not have broken when it slipped through the hole in your pocket and landed who-knows-where?

Was it cat spit that did it?

Here is my question for Ask BK Day:
Dear BK,
Have you decided what the June Gardenia show is going to be?

Not quite yet - I was thinking about a Cy Coleman show but if you have something else, composer or concept that interests you let me know.

This evening I'm seeing Harvey Fierstein and the lovely (and lovely to look at) Christopher Sieber in La Cage. The show closes on Sunday.

And Chris Sieber's introduction to the La Cage aux Folles Easter Bonnet yesterday was very moving... As was the presentation itself which started off by honoring some of the members of the original cast members who had died from AIDS, and then ended with members from all three Broadway companies (the original(!!!), the revival and the current revival) taking the stage to sing "The Best of Times".
