I'm up late because in the middle of the night I discovered I had one last short paper due for class and an online evaluation of the course. And they were due Friday. So, I wrote and wrote and finished that off. I hope I don't discover another little thing I didn't do.

That sounds like a true living bad dream/nightmare. ;)

Or a very academic version of "Inception".

DR Cillaliz - I believe Rupert Holmes is "in house" today. A Time To Kill goes into tech this weekend, and then start previews next Saturday. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be running into him today.

Thanks for the birthday wishes DRs Sam and TCB!

Btw, re:  DR Jose's 7:20pm bagel post.  I'm curious do most DRs bagels look like those (very puffy)?  Our bagels don't look like that. They aren't puffy.

DR Jennifer - New York Style bagels tend to be on the "puffy" side - some places do make them too big, imho. However, due to places like

Mile End

and

M. Wells - which happens to be run by a former cook from Au Pied du Cochon

the "flatter" Montreal-style bagels are also now available in NYC. -In fact, both Mile End and M. Wells have people who drive them down every other day from Montreal. Mile End also specializes in "smoked meat".

The bus trip down this morning was relatively uneventful. There was some weird traffic coming out of the Holland Tunnel,

Maybe Ricky was teaching Lucy how to drive again.

If you couldn't be an Oscar Meyer Wiener, is there anything else you'd wish to want to be?

Well...perhaps a "Pepper"....wouldn't you like to be a Pepper, too?

Tonight I'm going to the library to help wrap the books that are rare of valuable that have been donated for our sale.  We may sell some of them elsewhere or just place a higher price on them.   I'm quite looking forward to this.  Out of close to 1500 boxes of books that were donated there are bound to be a few good ones.

I've picked up the tapes for The Fantasticks - what I was hoping for isn't in evidence - some sort of mixdown with all the final vocals.  So, I don't think this is going to be possible, as I have no idea what vocals would have been used from the prerecords and live from the set.  Plus, I'd have to do a complete mix and there's no way that expense would ever be justified with this release - I'm really not sure HOW many we could sell anyway.

I have been obsessed with electric bicycles for the past few days.  I'm not sure why, but I have been.  I've read about them for several hours each night and today I bit the bullet.  I didn't order the one that I posted, I ordered this one instead

I can not wait to be zipping up the hills here.  I'd like to work up to commuting to work, but just to go for a bike ride will be nice.  Living at the top of a hill is a pain when you want to ride a bike

Wasn't there an old SNL skit about a cat that drove a car?  Toonces or something like that?
that was it. Can't remember what season, but it was around the time of Robert Downey Jr.

Back from the eye doctor and $350 lighter with two pairs of glasses on the way. Not happy with the total, but I have put off going for a year, and with my diabetes, that isn't good.

The lineup for the Strouse show sounds great. "Rags" is a great score, so is "Dance a Little Closer,"even if the productions were not up to snuff.

The problem wasn't the productions, it was the books! They stank.

The productions were quite lush and interesting.

Sorry to hear about your friend Russell DR ELMORE.  Condolences and thoughts.

I thank everyone for their condolences.

I never think of Russell as one for sentimentality but once: when he was forced through the new owners of his apartment building on 47th Street to give it up and relocate permanently to Seattle, where he'd been living about 6 months a year, I could tell from our conversation on the day he left that he was weeping. This was around late 2008. He had moved everything he could back to Seattle except for his piano, which he gave to me, He kew I'd lost mine during the 2008 bed bug crisis.

It's sitting down at Toyland and I should move it back here.

When I was working on JUBILEE in January-March 1986, Russell helped me survive the stress of a horrid abusive producer who called daily with threats and invective. Because the New Amsterdam Theatre Company and the Porter Trust delayed getting me a contract by around 6 months, I was way behind my estimated completion date, as she constantly reminded me. Russell was at that time living in Manhattan around 90th asnd West End Avenue and using the producer's midtown apartment as a studio when she was out. He was aware from my conversations about her and her tirades about me to him that "Fang" (as he called her) was coming on strong like a bulldozer. Whenever he'd call to check on me and my mental condition, his first words were always "I'm calling from Gadhafi's bunker."

As to Fang, I had to have the Cole Porter attorneys call her and threaten her to leave me in peace to finish the score. I later, around 1990, ran into her at Goodspeed and she treated me like an old friend! She died a horrid death from multiple sclerosis, and Russell visited her regularly till she died.

Larry, you are going to have one hell of a memoir.  And I, for one, can't wait for it!

;)

Oh, goody! One copy sold! It's in the works, DR George! Soon Slouching Toward Immorality will be on the best seller lists.

Sad Story or I'm Going to Kill My Cat:

About a week ago, I discovered that there was a hole in my pants pocket and, shortly thereafter, I also discovered that the remote access device for my car was missing.

 :(

I retraced all my steps, looked high and low, but could not find it.

 :( :(

So, last Friday, I went up to Honda and bought a new one...for $90.00.

 :'(

Guess what I found last night!

 :o

The damn thing was sitting in plain sight...right atop a blanket where my cat often roosts.

 >:(

I figure that I had dropped it or set it down someplace and, for the last week, Annie (who is now on my s**t list) has been using it as a toy.

 >:( >:(

Can anybody give me the address of a good violin factory?

How about a pie shop?

Why, oh why, since I was in midtown, didn't I visit the Little Pie Factory?

Back from picking up one package and one bill, doing a mile and a half jog and now shall get ready to be on my way to dine and then see Bye Bye Birdie.

I had to return tapes today, as well as picking up, and I wrenched my back pretty good lifting a sixty-pound box of two-inch tapes.
