I must say I get a personal sense of gratification when I see Amazon sales rankings spike after a review of mine has gone live, especially when it's a title that might not do well otherwise.  A couple of weeks ago the new Minkus La Bayadere was languishing at around 200,000 in the sales rankings, but after our site covered it, it jumped up to around 8,000.  Yes, that's not incredibly high, but compared to where it started, it's really amazing.  And just yesterday, Mandingo was down in the 30,000 range and is now about to crack the Top 1,000.

I'm so relieved!

On Wednesday, after we agreed on the venue for the rehearsal dinner, Mary Linda and I (and my sister) looked at the event menus and decided that we'd rather do a heavy hors d'oeuvres buffet than a sit-down dinner where everybody has to eat the same thing.  I was afraid that would be perceived as cheesy, but

I just upgraded DW Wife Betsy and myself to smartphones.  Oy.  Verizon's network is set to crash early next week.  :)

I'm up after a good night's sleep, which I really needed.  Must be on my way shortly to do some errands and whatnot.

Charlie was a mover and shaker in the American Communist Party and became a POW in Spain during the Civil War when he fought there as part of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade.  He was one of the big unionizers of New York City's dockworkers in the late 1940s and early 1950s and raised the ire of Martin Dies, who called him "the baby faced pinko of NYC's docks."  Charlie went on to own a great deal of lower Manhattan (including where the WTC was) and ran campaigns for several notable Democrats through the years.

Did anyone else's morning paper have the pathetic ad for ATLAS SHRUGGED with the actually hilarious "pull quotes" that basically said stuff like "It's a movie"?

I think the princess's gown was beautiful and all the guests looked lovely. I love that they wear hats (and that most of them weren't too much).

I wish Americans would dress in good taste at the awards shows that are broadcast instead of dressing to look so silly.

Congrats on your instincts, Ginny!

Thanks, DR Ron Pulliam!  I just had a nice phone conversation with Kim, the hotel event manager.  She was very enthusiastic about our event.

I believe this was asked about here a long time ago, but I just received word from Disney that the US BD release oF DUMBO will be on 9/20.

My bike arrived today.  I have assembled the bike and charged the battery, but the weather isn't very good.  The wind is about 40 MPH and it looks like it could rain at any moment.  So the bike will stay in the garage until tomorrow.   At least I'll be ready to roll as soon as the weather allows it

It's about time.   I hope some BD reviewers point out to Disney that there is nothing any more racist in "The Song of the South" than there is in "Dumbo" -- to wit, "When I See An Elephant Fly" sung by the crows.  Of course, they might have edited out that song.

I will. I have to find it. I know it's in the house somewhere, but wasn't where I thought it was but I have a couple other ideas of places I may have put it.  I'll look tonight
