Good morning, all! At 6:15 I decided I needed no more sleep and got out of bed. I have several errands to run this morning, and then I'll spend the day on a few projects. Last night I started watching the BBC series LOVE FOR LYDIA, which I would swear is 13 hours long, so I figure there are lots of intrigues. The lead actress, playing a 17 year-old girl, is 30 years old, so the casting is very much like GLEE and BEVERLY HILLS 90210, only better. I suspect they casy someone on the far side of 17 because our Lydia is a girl on the make, besides a rich snob. The two actresses playing her aunts, Batrix Lehman and Rachel Kempson (Vanessa Regrave's mother) are wonderful.
I finished 2 episodes last night.
BK, I cannot plan Tuesday yet until I know what's going on with the pre-production writing I have to do for May 23. I also got an email from one of my college friends now living in London that he's coming in this week as well. I do look forward to seeing you, whether it's at the Metropolitan Room or a visit.
I had a fascinating discussion once with Jo Sulivan Loesser abut Mr Cy Coleman, and that's all I'll say. The rest is for the memoirs. I met him only once and that was at a reception in Middletown OH, following a concert in which he appeared, when he kindly offered DR Ginny help in getting tickets to I LOVE MY WIFE on her NYC trip. He was a gentleman and I've always appreciated his kindness that night. As for his music, his ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY is the best comic opera score since CANDIDE, and it may be my favorite score of his. I do like enormously his scores to BARNUM, I LOVE MY WIFE and WILDCAT.
DRs Ben and FJL, safe trips to DC!
