Better put the computer away as it looks like we'll be boarding soon.  The sun just came out here.  I did read the weather forecast and it says it won't rain in Memphis until 5:00 and may be rainy tomorrow evening.   Cooking contest here I come....well after I fly there, get to the hotel, find the shuttle to the cookoff ..... but I"m on my way!

Funny: I totally forgot the Beatles....and Simon and Garfunkel.
My favorite boy group is Forever Plaid.

I've been thinking of what constitutes a girl group or boy group.  Would a distinction be a group that just does vocals and doesn't play any instruments?

TOD - I have always had a fondness for The Supremes, because they were one of the "up and coming" acts I saw at the Michigan State Fair in the summer of 1964.  My dad worked down the street from Hitsville USA and we drove past the building every time we went to see Broadway tours at the Fisher Theatre.

...or anything by The Manhattan Transfer.  They're a mixed group, but they've done cover songs by boy groups and girl groups. :D

Storms seem to have passed by without leaving any damage -- at least at my house. Don't know about the rest of the city or region yet.

But all my plants' leaves are headed skyward. They are overdosing on the rain.

Has anyone heard of the National Jukebox?  It's a website of "Historical Recordings from the Library of Congress."

The Library of Congress presents the National Jukebox, which makes historical sound recordings available to the public free of charge. The Jukebox includes recordings from the extraordinary collections of the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation and other contributing libraries and archives.

It's pretty darned cool!

DR MBARNUM - I have the Kindle App for PC's which allows me to read Kindle books on my computer.

I'm thinking of doing this since there are a couple of short books i want to read that are not available in print. Did it take long to download?

Just came from facebook. I belong to a lot of book groups. And they are all quite upset over facebook's new promotional rules that came into place yesterday (or were enforced starting yesterday).

A lot of authors do book giveaways on facebook. And apparently now you are not allowed to do this anymore. I think this really sucks. Although they are all trying to figure out what they can do. Some are setting up blogs.

That's not good...you'd think that the authors should be able to do whatever they want!

DR Jane - I hadn't heard about those new FB rules.  Lots of pages, not just authors', do giveaways both on Facebook and Twitter.  I'll be interested in how it all shakes out.

Richard and I are off to Cincinnati for a program about Macchu Picchu - run-up to Middfest 2011 featuring Peru.

Bye for now!

I'm going to have blood drawn at 7am. I'm having a physical next Tuesday and I'm having the blood work done before so the doctor has the results. I haven't eaten since yesterday morning (I wanted to fast before the blood was drawn). I'm very hungry.

I will eat breakfast after 7am.

Why didn't you eat lunch or dinner yesterday?

I have of course purchased the Mark Hanna tome and will let you know how it is when I read it later today.
